Hey everyone i've got the big one expansion chamber on my bike at the moment and a dep end can, but i've heard a de-restricted standard pipe is better. But is it better than a dep expansion?
Seriously though, gutted standard is good for performance and as it is extremely cheap but if you can afford to splash the cash it's never going to be better than a dep no matter what you do to it.
Looks like dep it is then! Yeah I agree they look much better, hopefully i'll get a used one soon and i've got some autosol chrome cleaner a dep pipe will come up nicely.
That's amazing nev, mines like the top one at the moe, did you put the t cut on then wire wool drill it ? Or wire wool drill it until or the rust was off and then t cut it ?
Drill with wire brush wheel and T-cut first, then wire wool and T-cut, then a polish up with a rag and T-cut for the awkward to get into places, or a sheepskin buffer on drill for most of it. metal pan scrub and t-cut will do it if you haven't a drill with a wire wheel, but ebay sells them cheap enough. just get the 2 sizes 100mm and 40-50mm wire brush wheel.
ah right cheers for the advice, i used just a hammer drill with wire wheel on the exspanny on one of my other bikes and couldnt get it as nice as that lol.
iv got all mixes of exhausts personally iv found the dep gets the best performance when used with a pv/ servo, but it works well with the p/v slighly closed off max too not so good full open . The standard gutted works best with a pegged system , an the big one front pipe is just a no,no with a pegged system ok with servo but cheap an nasty compared to the dep. as for end cans iv not found much difference in performance just looks an sound

thats amazing restoration there nev iv seen your pipe cleaned up before but if never seen the before shot that acf50 is some good stuff aint it just expensive
Aye Trip, at about £12 for an aerosol can, it's not cheap, but the amount you use each time means it lasts a fair while, next time I get some, I 'm plumbing for the pump type bottle rather than the aerosol
