Bike has served me well, been riding it since June and thrashed the nuts off of it. Dad's got a WR250f and the TS has taken a serious pounding on the lanes.
It was looking tired when I bought it home so took it all apart, sanded and resprayed the frame, swing arm and engine. There was a nasty arse hole in the down pipe so got a new expansion chamber to fit.
Bike's been bored up to 70cc, racing reeds, straight through end can, 5hrs porting and polishing the barrel on the kitchen table, carb restriction drilled out and dropped a 80 main jet in the carb. also messed around with the gearing to give me an indicated 55mph on the flat, i've had 60 down hill
Can't sing the bike's praises enough, really is a tough little machine. i've had the DT for 5 days and it's already back in the shop, the TS had to take me to college the whole of this week.
Lovely! I had one of these as my first bike when i was 16. As good as it was to be on the road and on a geared bike I didnt like it too much. Mine was standard and did 30mph tops. Literally. I had 45mph once going down a huge hill and thought the bike was going to blow.
I went out on a ride with a load of lads on 50cc and 125cc bikes one night and i actually lost them on a 40mph rode that led to a roundabout. Ended up going home and feeling very sorry for myself lol.
So when I got the DT I was extatic which how welll it went lol.
I'll never forget my TS50 though and the hours of riding it around the front gravel drive of my house practising low speed riding and things in preparation for my CBT. I remember i used to stand up on the seat and ride it round in circles thinking I was some kind of stunt rider. Brilliant fun lol. Bought and sold it for about the same price i think. 650 quid
haha yeah i didn't much fancy being stuck at 30mph all the time, tweaked it all even before i got my provisional lol yeah the DT feels so rapid in comparison, it's funny getting back on the TS, pulling back the throttle and going nowhere!
I'm on my phone. But If I was on my computer I'd Upload the photos. My now was exactly the same as my friends derbi. He was on my DT when he comes back.
To be quite honest. That day was the first day I went off roading. But even so that derbi beat me round the dirt than my DT. At the end of the day it's the rider not the ride but still I was annoyed lol.
I later found out that my TS was one of the ones made for the UK market, meaning it was MADE to do 30mph lol, not even restricted. I'm sure by putting a big bore kit etc on it would have done more but hey it was only a year and was a good intoduction to motorcycling.
Yeah, i had to put a big bore on there to get anything out of it haha you coulda tried the carb restriction i talked about, didn't make much of a difference to speed but really improved throttle response and made the bike feel a lot nicer
all the ts's in the uk wear for the uk market as in made to do 30 restricted porting restricted, carb restricted and exhaust so basically everything haha
by geting a bigbore it puts bigger porting and adds 20cc and at only £80 well worth it then a new pipe i imported my pipe from italy cost 100 then reeds so £200 and bam ts did double the speed haha

Lol. Quite a bit of work though. What was that like for the bottom end? Could it take it?
Also what money did you spend.
My rs50 out the box did 60mph. With mild tuning could achieve 70 though I never did. Wasn't worth it IMO. Was just a bike to learn how to ride.
Also by money I mean add ons plus bike. I'd imagine that ts's were a fair bit cheaper than my rs?
I was just planning on playing ignorant, so far been lucky enough not to get a tug yeah i payed around the same for mine, mods included, i'd choose an off road bike over a road bike 9 times out of 10. I love the RS, mate had one and its a cracking little bike but to be honest, it being a 50 and only meant to be doing 30, it's not worth the risk imo
