It's not the coating you need to worry about, it's the blasting 90% of the time, that's what wrecks parts. You cant mask parts before blasting. Those collars stay put so clean them afterwards.
ok frame is ready to be sent to the coaters, and the swing arm is too (i hope) just clearing up a question in my own mind. as u can see from the pic there aperas to be a metel sleeve inside the dog bone linkage, do i have to remove these or leave them to be masked off by the coaters? nto i have removed the bolt the inner sleeves and the dust seals fromt he ends.
If you get a torch and look in you might see them. The coaters should be able to mask that. Just leave the copper bushes in. Might be able to reuse them after a clean up.
Got to make sure you get rid of the blasting media out those bushes ect. I have found this out with my inner crank cases. Thought I had jet washed it all out. But while messing abOut trying to gett the bearings in o relised I had missed some and it got into some of my new bearings. So I had to order new ones. Going to be busy with the good old warm water and fairy liquid in the sink.
i am gonna make sure that the bushes are nice and clean with alcahol a toothbrush and with an air compressor. hopping that i can clean them good before putting the bike back togther. well if i went wrong then its too late now coz its allready been blasted, and i pick it up friday.
Well I am cofident I got all the stuff out my cases.I used lots of really hot soapy water in the sink with a big scrubbing brush. Even on the second wash after rinsing and drying the first wash. I never found one bit of sand. First wash had loads mind. Bit of a blessing in disguise for me cause that **** would of been having a good time in my engine lol.
