Looking pretty good man, you say you need an alarm, well if you get the cyclone v2 for like £30 off eBay, as you seem pretty genuine I'd send you the instructions I made which SHOULD allow you to have the immobilizer working and remote start on your dtx, It's worth having
With the fob and it all wired up I can leave the bike running quickly to go to the cash machine on the pavement, If any ones tries to jump on it I can arm it and within 2 seconds the bike will cut out, the rear will lock up and they will fly off and Ill beat the liiving day lights out of him (actually I probably wont have to with the rear will locking him up) and get my bike back ;) distance away the bike can be immobilized by the fob is unbelievable, 400-600ish holding the fob upto your head...
Also when its parked up if the alarm goes off cus of someone the rest of the ignition side of things wont work
If you leave the key in the ignition to the off position, if someone was to quickly come along and jump on it when its in armed mode and turn the key to on the alarm goes off and the bike wont start
Remote start only works with the key in the on position. some people not knowing this get scared of having remote start as they think if someone manages to get hold of your fob there be able to start it without the key, not the case. To remote start it on the newer dts you need both the key in the on position and the fob, and if they got both your pretty fooked anyway lol.
Also if anyone tampers with the ignition the bike should become completely immobilized until its unarmed with the fob.
It might work on your dt with the instructions, its just if your wiring loom is different but it shouldn't be. an 04 dtx and my 06 RE had the same wiring for this part of the bike so I'm sure it will work for you too. Up to you though, if you want the info PM me if and when you buy the alarm
Yea im deffo gonna go for the cyclone , just wanna find somewhere good to fit it ( underneath the pod air filter inside airbox maybe , as long as it don't obstruct the airflow from snorkel hole to filter should be ok)
I helped someone fit their cdyclone alarm over the phone from this forum once...cant remember who though lol
They are reaaaally good, its the reason people who knicked my bike never got it going (i think the bat was dead so the alarm didnt go off when they stole it but its clever enough that if you disconnect the bat it automatically alarms it!

You helped me with pics and that through an app (cant remember the name) on the phones
Yeah haha remember when you couldnt work out why there would have been wires off the bike loom going to nowhere haha?? Then we realised that originally they were block connectors which arent used from factory ;)
Such a good cheap alarm with all the features working, made better instructions and converted it to pdf and posted that I had in the useful section for anyone else wanting the info on how to wire it up
I'm getting a Cyclone V2 soon. Going to just wire it up to the battery. I don't have any indicators, so would be pointless wiring it up to the indicators, and the DTR doesn't have an electric start.
