right i cant work out whats wrong with the clutch it was all good last year  i removed the engine oil before i put it up  for storing  over winter

the bike works fine in low revs the  gears click in click out  the bike sits fine  with the clutch pulled in 1st    but once it hits the powerband its like im holding the clutch lever in a bit

it just revs out an doesnt pull like it should  its got new cables  nice slack .engine oil changed twice now but still its the same

i can see it making me pull another clutch apart again  before long    one of  my  most hated of repairs to work with  cluches an damn flywheels ,

anybody know if this little idea i have is safe to try    drain the  engine oil   bungee the clutch lever so the plates are apart wd40 all the plates up  hopefully cleanin them up of any crappy oil thats stopping it all functioning correct

I store mine for years with all the oil still in place with out problem . not sure why some remove the engine oil ? surly removeing the oil leaves it open to rust if any moisture gets in or things drying out and becomeing gunky or sticky .

Old oil contains moisture and acids that will pit bearings and other engine parts so really its important to change oil prior to storage.

change oil or drain empty ?    I am asumeing he drained empty for storage ?  and even draining will not remove all the oil  you would be left with a  coating still on everything I would think ?

not sure I would ever drain empty for storing any engine would think its much better for the engine parts to be sat in oil than just nothing ? .  have had bikes that have been stored for around 10 years with the same oil in the engine and once  drained adn carb cleaned they  are fine with out problems .

each to their own I suppose

The plates can often tend to stick together if drained of oil, I try to leave oil in, but drain, and change when the time comes.

best way in my mind leave it in  try turn the engine over  and shake fuel up at least once a month and if stored for long time  change out the oild anf fuel prior to useing again .

gave up the ghost on this one pulled the clutch apart found exactly what was expected. Gammy sticky plates as it was going though pulling it apart id got new plates and springs in anyway ,, done this morning easy to 3rd or 4th time round now i dont know what i was fretting about could have done it with my eyes closed too. kinda
just awaiting a test run now but it feels nice to pull that clutch lever now lets hope the bike pulls properly now..

so word of advice dont remove the trani oil if your putting your bike up for winter it causes allsorts of mither

great news .

it.s easy to follow some well writen advice on the net and thinking draining engine oil is ok can sound good idea if writen well . in cases like this just sit back and think is it realy such a good idea use what ya know ... engine oil on side of bottle becomes sticky in small ammounts and left open to eliments.

and we all know how fast engine parts rust if not swimming in oil with in hours the rust/brown starts to show .

imagine draining gear box oil storing for months and a slight water leak or moister gets in there in that time its gona rust like crazy .
