It currently has the standard pipe with a DEP silencer.
It won't rev past 7K RPMs IIRC. Either way, it has some rev limiter in place. It's a 1997.
The powervalve is working and functional. Anyway, I'm going to replace the standard part of the exhaust and put a full DEP on it. Is it worth it?
And I'm getting some of them ASV levers as my clutch lever is broke.
Also, I'm planning on getting supermoto wheels for it when I have some more money in for it. Will the later model supermoto wheels just fit straight on? Just asking as I don't like the dirt wheels, I doubt they'll grip that good on the road, and I don't plan on hitting green lanes.

Easiest way to sm a dtr is to use dtx parts, you would need dtx front forks, front Brembo braking system from the dtx, front and rear wheel, and speedo sensor would be out so you would either need to buy digital clocks or use dtx clocks and wheel sensor
Doing this you won't need to make any custom spacers, bearings etc, everything this way can be bolted on no probs, but your talking £300 + unless you manage to get a bargain
if the powervalve is in place and functional but wont rev past 7k,
1st thing i'd check is that the powervalve is the right way up in the barrel and not 180 degrees out
full dep is a very nice mod, lots of useable power with no down side to it....
asv levers are lush,BUT might have clearance issues with the switches, think there's a thread on it somewhere...
never SM'd a dt so cant help you with that lol
I did I took the cap off, turned the ignition and it did a full turn. I think it's had a new exhaust at some point, so perhaps its the exhaust from a later model, one of the ones that need welding to de-restrict?
Also, I think I'll have to keep it as a dirt one then. Is there not a way to do it cheaper?
I might be rebuilding it soon to make it quicker once I'm used to it. Its hit 10,000 miles, so I presume it'll need a new piston and rings soon.
Not got it road legal yet. I turn 17 on the 30th, but insurance is all set to go on my birthday. :D Going to be fun.

Have you actually been riding it whilst its been off the road lots or have you just been starting it up a couple of times and been giving it a few revs and this is where youve noticed it doesnt want to rev past 7k??
reason i ask is it could be just the case of a clogged up system, like mine theres been a few times where its got clogged up after not starting it for a few months and it didnt rev properly as if it was Clogged up, had to rev it quite a bit to clear it and that sorted it, may be this im thinking now youve said your not even old enough to ride it yet
I took it for a "test" ride when I first got it, around the block, that's when I noticed it didn't rev past 7K.
The owner didn't say anything about it sitting around. I'll see when I get it road legal, anyway. I'm getting the DEP still though. :D
And I ain't getting the ASV levers now, I found out only the clutch side fits, so if I did get any it'd only be for the clutch side, as my current one is broken. I'll see if I can get a clutch one on the cheap.
