check the first things is fuel leaving the tank - tap -pipe - inside tank filter pull the pipe of carb is fuel running free ? had this yesterday fule pipe i fitted was to long and once on carb a little bend stoped fuel .

next if its leaving tank fine is float chamber filling fine ? if ok then there has to be a blockage stopping it getting further . wip of the carb and clean every thing

use compressed air if possible to blow down every hole -jet or port you can see . blowing even with a small bit of hose down most holes you should feel or hear air comeing out some where else .

if air is not clearing a blockage use a strand of wire from a old clitch cable or bycycle break cable is great to clean out jets or holes .

take it you have dropped a bit of pre mixed fule down the hole and then it starts ?

edit ..

is the air filter ok also not totaly blocked ?  and the tank breather in the cap try with fule cap open ?

As in the title guys, it is cyclying nicely and sparking but it won't start. I took the spark plug out and it was dry as a bone so obviously no fuel is getting in somehow, any ideas?

Cheers for your help mate. Fuel runns freely out the float chamber when I undo the little screw, The air filter is fine ect.

I Dipped the spark plug in some fuel and put it in and it didn't start, or I take it you can pour a bit down the hole? I think that will be my next thing to tryto make sure it is cuase it aint getting any fuel, only got a crappy electric start that does not help my cause.

yeah dipping the plug is no good pour a little down the hole not loads maybe a tea spoon type drop and she shhould fire and run for a couple seconds .

think your next job is clean the carb it realy is a simple job and you dont have to remove all the screws and jets like in the video above I never take the air screw out well almost never .. in most cases you can see down some holes or jets and a blockage can be seen easy . just find a bit of hose or pipe even a straw and blow down all holes can some times help

Got her fired!  ran really sweet but the idle screw was not in enough and it started to rev hard so I hit the kill swith. Not the best way for a new engine rekon that could have been part of the problem.

So I tightened it right in and guese what the stupid starter motor has stopped engaging the fly wheel! so I am going to have to pulll the flywheel off again to sort it out.

It ran sweet though with a nice sound, In my panic I wanted to check it hadn't seized because i thought the starter was jammed. So I put it into first to slowly jerk it forward, I started paniking thinking I had no gears for a few mins until I remembered I never had a fecking chain lol!!

Just been one of those days where nothing is going right or going easy, having a break the now to cool of and go back to it later and i might have her going tonight.

been there done that lol althou knocked one in gear and it fcked of up the garden on its own .

sure your batteris not tired bethour you strip starter constant trying with elecy will soon drain a battery and even thou it sounds like its trying or not ingaging it may just be low on power to spin up right ... I couldnt live with out a kicker on a dtr lol

so I take it that its now getting fuel or did it start by just putting fuel down head ?

It wont start now with even fuel in the head, sounded like it was going to but didnt happen, I have left the spark plug out incase it is flooded, I managed to sort the starter by slackening the two cross heads and it engages now. The battery is definatley getting tired now and my charger and jump starter are at work, so I will have one more try then wait till tomorrow, would it not start if the idle screw was to far in?

Got it started again revved hard again but I think it was cause where I chopped the two stroke pump cable the throttle cable wasn' seated in its housing which would explain things hopefully.

So then I thought nice one I will have another go and that peice of ****e starter motor is not engaging again, it's just spinning.

if you mean the tickover screw as I call it then no not realy as the more in it is the wider open is the carb almost like your reving it a little if that makes sense as you know bikes not gona start if your applying revs wilst starting .

turn it right out then only a little in so it just lifts the need a little use your choke to start if needed .

Thanks. I am pritty sure the cable was cought and that's why it was revving, was probaly the reason it wasn't starting if the throttle was half open. Whats the best way to slacken the cable to make absouloutly sure it won't rev again, not good for my stress levels lol,

Will it be ok to bump on a brand new motor, what I would give for a kock start.

I know mate will be doing that asap

Just been reading a bit, do you think my starter is not engaging cause the battery is to flat, so its not got the power to push itself out,

could be is the relay only clicking sometimes and do.s the starter motor sound like its spinning up right ?

as for the cable not sure with out looking just be sure to try and run it so there is some slack and so you can turn bars left to right with out it becomeing tight .

nothing worse than a bike hits full revs everytime ya turn right lol and yes i done it once ..........

when i put my engine back in the throttle cable was trapped under the tank so check that and bump it that drags the fuel through

Made some progress. I can get it to start ( when the starter engages which is now at random intervals) now after i fiddled with the carb with some wire ect so it is getting fuel.

It want's to idle at 6k though and I have to keep hitting the kill switch. My number one suspect is the carb slider because when I took the carb off even though the throttle was of the slider was still half open, I have checked the reed gasket which was fine and it's all tourqued up properly, got tight cable ties on the boost bottle carb ect,

If it was an air leak I am sure I would hear a hissing noise, My next thing i think is to poke the carb slider down so that I definatley know it is where it should be for idle.

Thanks guys

Got it sorted lads, slider was jamming on my gasket sealer in the carb just enough to catch it, I have yamaha to thank for not selling one and in turn condemming my carb, utter cnuts ha ha so happy now, bottom end is silent!
