well the day started well went out on the rm250 for a little while then cut out and wouldnt start again (first thought lose earth, had happened before) so go it home, took plug out to check for spark and plug was filled with water  after removing head found head gasket inner o-ring has burnt threw in 2 places, only £10 for genuine suzuki gaskets not to bad.
I then thought its only early when not pull the dt out seeing as im in my bike gear and go green laning (DT HAD OTHER IDEAS). let it warm for 10 mins or so while putting rm away set off got to bottom of my street (mid 2nd gear) and she locked up solid.
heres the two broke
with the engine out :(
the engine (very dirty)
what i found when took head off
once it was out
so now iv ordered a new stator, full gasket set an +2.00mm piston kit an started the rebuild on my original 89 engine
Its not faster Macca, that kick up the backside at 7000 rpm from when pinned open is fast granted, but with a servo you get the full power range from low to high revs, and coupled with a CDI that doesn't restrict at a high revs as most do, you have a right rocket mate. I promise you, you'd not leave me behind.
feels quicker that is it as it kicks in harder but if it was better without do you really think yamaha would of spend and invested that much money and time and include it on so many of there 2 strokes answer is no they would not and they removed them from some year bikes as restrictions.

av had a early loom and cdi unit on the bike mate and when it was running with a servo it was slow same with my bros 03 dt when he bought it he couldnt keep up as soon as i did the clock mod and took the servo off he was right behind me. i think the only time a servo would come in handy is on twisty roads but theres no chance a dt thats useing a servo would be faster than a 1 thats pinned open
Its a shame you live the other side of the country to me Macca, proof of the pudding and all that. I had to have mine pinned when I first had my engine done, so yes I got the warp factor at 7k revs, but where I live its pretty hilly and struggled with some of the steeper hills, but when I connected the servo back up it pretty much took those same hills effortlessly.
It feels quicker with no servo cos the impact is more prominent from the band. With a servo you get the same power it's just tame and alll through the range. I took my servo off and I loved it but now I hate it and want it back on.
On topic though, what did that damage? clipping a port?
My cable was knackered on one side of the valve so I kinda had to until I got a new one, Never got round to getting one cos I loved the kick from the band but now it's impractical and I lose alot of 6th gear. I have to keep dropping a gear to get anywhere if I drop out of the band, proper sucks
no damage to barrel atall very strange concidering the state of the piston and as for the valve hitting piston ect the barrel that im using is already set for +2.00 over as thats was was using before stator went on 89 engine
ok this is a **** diagram i know but try and under stand this if its closed the cirle is wear the band is most powerful and in the open circle is for top end like you have if you have a servo it adjusts so its best of both still the same top as it can only be open so much why would you want to restrict what has been made for power its stupidity
you think its faster without the servo because it FEELS faster because of the rush of acceleration..
with the servo OFF, the power you get is nothing...nothing.......nothing......... BANG power.
with the servo on, you get a steady build up of power and the SAME amount of power in the band, it just feels slower with the servo fitted because there is no BANG or 'hit' as some like to call it
if the servo reduced power in any way at all i dont think the italian belgarda, full power bikes would have them ey?

Mines doing it at the moment but they gum up witch makes it turn slower common problem on rs's they gum up and grt stuck just pull it out and cleanit oncw in a wile and your sortes
