The one plus sign of doing this overhaul if your not planning on getting rid of your girl for awhile its one thing you wont have trouble with for the next 20 years. Just as long as you keep up good maintenance practises that is smile

fck that £220 to paint a swinger bought full dtrs for that ..

chances are most of your bearings ect could still be ok to reuse .. have you thought of diy jobbing it with some good rattle can primers -sprays -laquers ?

or can even work out cheaper to search and buy a swinger thats already in good condition in the color you want maybe ?

buy a cheap one clean it up and wast £50 on a diy spray job ?

what is involved when you guys get your swinger powdercoated?

ive never had a look whats in the swinger. what needs removing before powdercoating? as my local powdercoaters arent too good at masking up.

also, if i remove everything from the swinger, what do i need to buy to replace and how much would it set me back?

thanks

It's expensive, it set me back around £220. I know Nev has a system where you can salvage some parts by soaking the bushes in coke.

Thanks. Mainly because it has to be genuine parts all of it infact apart from the bearings as there ar no pattern parts.

There is a fair amount of sleeves collars bushes and oil seals required. You need to get two needle rollers for the swinger which are reasonable of wemoto it's called the slinky kit. The 2 needle rollers in the knuckle are about £18 each even from simply bearings.

If you look on one of my project pages 5 or something you will see all the stuff laid out.

Also depends what state it is in mines was feked so it all got chucked every part of it lol.

Yeah it's alot. All mines had to go anyway. I wouldn't do it if it was good nick. As ralzy says mines will last 20 years cause I will actually take it apart and grease it once a year. I am lucky cause I put grease nipples on my pivot cause it's a DT R swinger. The X doesn't have grease nipples for some reason.
