i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike
Lol. If my bike seizes because of this contamination then they owe me a new engine? Surely. I mean i place my trust in them to make an oil that is suitable for my bike. And it seizes because of it. Thats mad!
Meh, they won't pay out for seized engines. It's very unlikely you could prove it was their oil that did it.
Check the batch date September 2012, most will of been long used by now.
If you have the exact brand in your bike, two choices really, empty out all the oil and put fresh oil in, or add another batch of oil to it, and hope it doesn't seize.
I've always been close to buying it but always chose the halfords stuff, bit dumb because if it's been on sale since September just think how many will have already used it
this is blatantly what happened last year to me that was the only stuff i bought i did the tiope end then went out bought this filled it up an hour later pop
I've just had to rebuild my engine. This stuff Is the only 2 stroke I have put in my dt, my engine went pop end of last year.. Won't be buying that again.
The only way you could really narrow it down to being this is by when you last did a topend rebuild, and how you ran it in, if you was bouncing the tits off of the limiter during running in, then it won't last long.
But if you was looking after it etc, and it went pop, then it probably was the oil, but as I said, it's extremely difficult to narrow down a oil brand blowing your engine.
I have some in my bike now and its a bottle of the recalled batch , will keep you guys posted as to what Castrol say, ive been out on it so could have done damage already, I paid for it with card at Halfords so I can trace the purchase and have proof and stll a little left in the bottle.
ok update, phoned Castrol and I have the recalled batch, anyway they are paying for a new oil change in my bike drained out of the system and also an inspection of my engine at my local Honda dealer, I still have the plastic bottle with some of the affected oil, they were very helpful and if there is damage they will rectify so all good so far, he did say that its a precautionary recall, the affected oil is made in Italy and a batch came to uk.
well update , they tested my oil and it was fine, crescent motorcycles said my bike was fine as well, and today I received a cheque from Castrol for £168 , 68 for the costs like postage and new oil from crescents and 100 for my inconvenience , in all fairness Castrol have been really good, they arranged the RAC to collect my bike and paid for everything without any probs.
