Fitted the R&G Taily Tidy today, all went well until the wiring. Got a blue and a black coming from the loom and a black and a red coming from the licence plate light. Tried fitting it both ways but no joy. Do you think its a faulty light?
could be, can't be sure if you havn't got a voltage testor?, was it working with the stock item ect. The R&G use an LED that are very unlikely to not work like a bulb would.
If all other lights are working then like you say it won't be the fuse, it's just that sometimes if you get the wiring wrong it can blow a fuse, so that when you do get the wiring right way round, it'll seem that its wrong and still not work, due to a blown fuse or a bulb being overlooked, does that make sense?
1. Make a circuit tester - 12 volt light bulb with two wires connected to it (you can't use LED's for this).
2. Connect one wire to the frame then connect the other wire to one of the of the wires going to your original tail light. Make sure you have good connections, no rust, crap etc.
3. Switch on the ignition and turn on the lights - if the bulb lights up you know that one is the tail light, if doesn't then repeat the process with the other wires until the bulb lights up.
4. To find the brake light wire repeat the process but with the lights switched off and the brake lever pulled/ pushed.
To find out which wires do what on the tail tidy connect up the wires to a battery (12v or less) and swap them around systematically until you work it out. Remember LED's will only work with the wires connected correctly i.e. pos to pos & neg to neg. BTW the brake light on the tail tidy will just light more LED's it won't make them glow any brighter.
Ideally soon, like real soon, its been gone too long now, I'm saying 1st week of june it will be ready to take home
Yeah wheels defiantly look good though, unfortunately the wheels have gotta be sent back to his dad though as the offsets are wrong, another set back but it a be home soon for sure
I've heard you say before Callum, pictures cover up a 1000 sins! I'm just waiting for a couple of new plastics then theyre all off to Germany to be stickered. Will give me chance to touch up a couple of rust spots which are starting to come through on the frame.
I'm glad I've seen yours side-on Reef, i was beginning to think my rear fender had been stubbied since I put the new tidy on.
i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike
