Looks like i'll be selling it at the end of the month or mid june as i'm doing mod 2 early may. (booking hopfully i can get a space pretty soon) I baught the dt125r 1995 model a year ago for £1000. It was in a arvage state & the carb was ****ed plastics was dreadfull, so was the tyres. & it's got a 2002 engine in it & it's not had any rebores or barrel skimming & it's still the same piston size as it was origenally from factory. I've changed the piston & rings reccently & runs like a pro! I've also added new plastics for it & a pro bolt gold set for the plasitcs, Pro taper bars. It's always been mantained. New sprockets & chain every 5 months. New tyres every 3-4 months. Just fitted brand new AC10's on it. Added new tail tidy. I've added skate wheels on the forks & swing arms to protect the bolts.. (cost me £30) Always give it the best oils & change spark plugs every 3 months. I reccently changed the rear wheel barrings. Reccently got a new cltuch cable for it. Baught another carb for it when i baught it. Added some bits to make it tidy. Always cleaned every time i take her offroad. It will also come with spare sprockets, Plastics, Rear pegs, Front light, Rear light (origenal) & the old carb.
Oh... & new blue dust caps like ;)
I wanted to sale it for £1300 but my dad laughed at me (he's been working with bikes for over 30 years) He said i could easily get £1500 or more! But personally i would NOT sale ít for any less than £1400 in all fairness...
One photo looks pretty sweet. Would need to have more than one photo in order to give you a proper evaluation.
It looks nice and tidy but a bit concerned to as why there is an 02 engine in there. That would devalue it a little.
I mean from thag photo it looks worth £1600 any day. But in this climate where bikes are becoming a commodity it would struggle to get £1400 - £1500 at a push. Without seeing more photos £1000.
Dep looks nice. Panels look great. Shame they haven't got the original graphics for it. Especially when you can get them from portugal for next to nothing!
Looks pretty unmolested. So i'd agree with your dad. £1500 sounds reasonable with the intent to drop a £100 to make that quick sale.
And two strokes aren't being bought as much as they used to be. They are seen as evil and people would just prefer a four stroke now. Which sucks.
I got plenty more photo's but this was just a rough idea :) Sweet one! I see your point with the 4 strokes but people see in black & white. I've rode 8000+ miles on this before the piston going & that was keeping up with the drz400 & other big bikes. It even keeps up with a ktm sx250 offroader without fail! (apart from when it goes up verticle hills lol) What a beast! Luckly it didn't effect the barrel at all! Hmmm £1500 at summer time would be idea but there's always youngsters that want a 2 stroke enduro bike to get around on & the Dt125r are probaly the best ónes out there. Not these cheep chinese supermoto bikes like pulse lol! I just need a proper idea of what people would pay for this so i can put it on ebay without worrying. Also there is one other thing that i'm not looking foward too.. TYRE KICKERS Lol... They come round to collect the bike & then randomly pick out a non existing fault to knock the price down. Does not work with me :P
Good luck with the sale mate... shame to see your selling it though
"I just need a proper idea of what people would pay for this so i can put it on ebay without worrying"
Don't worry about that mate, put it on for £1500 buy it now when its likely people are gonna have some money (before the end of the summer), with a make offer option and good detailed description and pics too and see if it does sell, whats the worse your gonna lose aye, £20ish listing fees, worth the risk I'd say.
Once again good luck with it all, I'm sure your get a decent amount of cash for it
Thanks man, I just want to know if the other Dtr owners on here would buy it for that price :) The only reason why i have to sale it is because it won't get me from shrewsbury to bristol & back once every 3 weeks. Work isn't a problem as i live 4 mile away from work. I love the bike put so much money & effort in it Thanks for the advice i'll give it ago all i got to do is book mod 2 then pass it (hopfully by the end of may mid june it will be a thumbs up)
Bang it on the bay for the £1,400 & buy now for £1,500 and see how it goes mate. GLWS
Just out of intrest I see you have a YZF R125 rear caliper on the back Granty are you using the R125 mount aswell, did you have to mod a collar to suit mate

dissagree, its all asbout the time of year you sell and dt,s are becoming collectable if you can keep them as standard as poss, collectors will look for a standard or period style dt, if you see how much fizzys get now its worth hanging on to the dt if you have room to store it and rebuild it from scratch and keep it, its the last of the great jap smokers in 10 years time will be worth a lot of money.

Lol read it again mate.
That's pretty much my point. 2 strokes are not being built anymore. Therefore become more sought after.
I said that the bike is missing its original graphics. A thing that makes collectable bikes....collectable.
A different engine than originally supplied WILL raise suspicions. Anyone who ignores this point is an idiot. you would at least enquire.
And I said in this climate. Refering to time of year AND the economic climate.
