Alot of people have this issue all down to bad maintenance mate. Its summat that is often missed by owners or they can`t be bothered to do this simple routine maintenance. By rights it should just near enough slide out. Just make sure that when you do eventually get the linkage bolt out & replaced that you give it lashing of grease when you put it back in. All of this is in the manual under routine maintenance. You may aswell get the ball rolling & make a post now for spare linkage bolt if you haven`t got one as you will need one by the sounds of it?

I'm stripping my DT down to repray it, but the pivot bolt just will not budge, tried taking the weight off of the back wheel and still nothing. Sprayed it in WD 40, and still solid like it's welded on. :|
Absolute pain in the backside, don't really want to damage the bushes or anything like that getting it off.
Also, whacked it with a hammer a few times, still won't budge. Completely jammed.
Anyone else had this problem? If so what's the best solution here?
Only way you'll get that out, is to put a 1.5mm cutting disc on a grinderette, and chop it out, being careful, and taking your time you can get in between the swingarm and the engine mounting first, then both ends, you might need more than one disc too.
Probably worth mentioning you undo the nut so that it sits on yhe end of the thread. So you dont mess up the thread.
then how do you get the bolt out? eh? ;)
Its getting it moving thats the problem.
You should be using lots of wd. Then using the nut as the hitting point move the pivolt bolt. Once successful spray more wd on the areas where its stuck. Knock the bolt back the other way. Apply more wd. Knock it back again. Apply wd. Repeat until it becomes increasingly easier to move.
Well, update for those interested. Took the bike to a mechanic it was booked in since the day this thread was opened up.
His going to get the pivot off for me, then I'll get it home and drop the engine out and begin on the rest of the frame.
I masked the back end off and took the grinder with a wire brush attachment and took it down to bare metal.
Some right idiot has owned this bike. Someone's reprayed over rust with black paint. :| I pulled off the top layer of paint to find more rust underneath.
Anyway will be all sorted. Doing it the cheaper way by doing it myself. If it gets rusty again I'll go down the powder-coating route.
Also this is going to be a slow on-going project. I'm doing what I can whilst I have a bit of money, then it'll be a running project. Looking into a supermoto conversion, which will happen at some point. Once I've got the supermoto conversion done I'll start spending money on cosmetic parts like new handlebars and finally get that short clutch lever I've been after for ages. :3
Also, anyone know how to get them stickers off the tank? I have a odd tank from a different blue model. I want to respray it black to match the bike.
