I think my top end gasket is broke since my coolant level always drops, and if I dont fill it up, it overheats quite easy...
soo, I ordered home a new top end gasket, but it's been like this since I changed the gasket and I've been to lazy to do smthing about it... until I read about someone else with this problem and it concluded it was the gasket that was broke
anyways, I was thinking of a minor skimming just so it wont be failing again.
i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike

any tips or an easy good way to skim at home?
Did you use either a genuine Yamaha gasket, or an Athena gasket, if you used a cheap pattern one, that will be your problem, and you shouldn't need to skim your head.
I dont know, I think it was a genuine yamaha gasket cuz i bought it from a yamaha dealer and it costed like 25 euros for top end gasket kit. This time I ordered an Athena gasket for about 17euros from ebay (but it's same manufacturer I heard...?)
I just wanted do a minor skim, just to make sure, because it's been like this since ever since i changed the gasket and I dont wanna be changing gasket once per month.
But I could check first by putting some oil on the cylinder head and press it against some glass, if it needs skimming..? :)
Zander i have the same problem as you matey so im getting a new gasket today :D

saw Norfe posted in some other topic, that the biggest reason it breaks, is that you don't retourque the bolts after the first run after the rebuild.. and I dont think I did that.... :P
Neither did I so that's why I'm doing it in college where the tutors can help me and I have the equipment
