DT125R Adventure. Someone travel with her?

Hello from Spain and first of all sorry for my bad english xD

I like my 99 DT125R and one of my dreams is travel with it around europe, 70% offroad 30% on.

Ive looking for any information to "adventurize" DT but i didnt find anything.

I think at least i need a bigger tank to expand range (maybe WR450's high capacity tank could be adapted), a rack for lugagge and some saddlebags.

Someone has taken a long trip on DT125?

Any ideas?

Regards

2 strokes don't like staying at top speed for long periods of times, and bring a lot of 2 stroke bottles, and keep an eye on the level.

I'd suggest bringing spare gear levers and getting hand guards if you haven't already, you fall off in the middle of nowhere off-roading, you're done for. And living essentials water etc.

 looks newer than a 99?

if you don't plan on lots of highway type touring then the dt will be ok, and stop often to rest your arse, the dt will be quite happy at 50 cruising without stressing it too much, if it was me I would plan routes that are more scenic and off the beaten track so you don't feel bored.

The RE model wasn't brought to the UK until 2004. However that's not to say it wasn't released else where sooner. Remember that the DTRE is based off the DT230 Lanza which was released WAY before the RE. '99 Maybe earlier. But I've seen 1999 DT230 Lanza with the styling of the RE.

1997 even

But still my point remains.

I was really surprised myself. I thought the DTRE Was 'New design'. Obviously not. Much like the DTR it's just a rip off their other models lol.

They are Phil, it's just that they had DTR's with electric start way way back in other countries before they came here as the remodelled DTRE.

Then a week later my engine decided to blow so now i'm just waiting on Norfe to shinisize my engine so that i can carry on haha. Would have done it myself but as it's on 18k miles it's prob due a full rebuild so might as well do it now.

I did a 115 mile round trip on a fresh top end, 2 days later did another 300 miles in one day so as long as you aren't ragging it all the time i reckon the DT engine will easily do a long distance trip, just keep an eye on the oil level and as someone said make sure you have handguards and spare gear/rear brake levers in case they get broken, maybe spare clutch/throttle cables as well unless they're brand new. You never know.

Oh and spark plugs. they're cheap so make sure you have a few :)

Andyyam did long travels on his and it was alright.

Dt bottom ends will go on and on seany. You could have doubled the mileage on the bottom end. Provided no chunks of metal smash into the bottom end it would have been fine.
