Hi all, just wondering about gearbox oil this time, not about brands or what one to use, just how quickly it goes down? Mine seems to go down quite quickly? I try to fill it up to that line on the side of the bike the little bubble thing when you put the back brake lever down, it has a little notch, I fill it up to there.
Is there a better method? Or an alternative? And as I said it goes down quite quickly...
Drain your oil into a measuring bowl. How much how you got?
Should have 750ml in there. Don't fill it up to the line. Just make sure you've got 750ml in there. The oil will thin out and expand due to the heat so won't always be on the line directly.
If you're drastically loosing oil then you've got problems.

Either the left hand crank seal is gone.
The waterpump seal is gone
Or you have a leak out the bottom of you engine.
Hope this helps.
right hand seal cal mate...tranny side.... i just use 10/40 engine oil always have done in me gearboxes...but up to u if u wanna be daft and spend money u buy what u want kidda lol
i choose my gear oil very carefully ,not to follow trends and that but coz of the dtr's wet clutch,it can make a massive difference what type of oil you've got
no some bikes have wet clutches ,and when they do they will change their liking for oil as you change things on the bike ,smaller sm wheels will put less strain on the whole drive train becauase of ratio's,including th gearbox, and also coz its not gettin thrashed offroad ,some oils thin quiker at temps and this effects ..overall protection and heat distribution ,as well as the clutch
