Alrighty

So my DT will be coming home in the next week or so and as im gonna need to be running the new top end in looks like I'm gonna have to fork out on a torque wrench for the head bolts and that..

any one got any reccomendations?? Not made of money but obviously it needs to be reliable, made well and one which can be trusted??

cheers

I had difficulty mate. There just isn't enough room in there to get a torque wrench inside all the nuts. I just did it REALLY tight after I did mine. Been fine ever since.

If you torque the heads before engine is in mate you should be alright even though it is adviseable to re-torque after 1st run with new newly built top end

Cheers lads

Ah is it, might not bother then with buying one...Think i might do the 1st heat cycle up in bradleys town then use his wrench and expertees to make sure its all going well

...Dont think i could trust that slip on torque 'device' lol but each to there own mate cheers :)

Think its possible to run in the new top end in just ONE whole day using that 3 heat cycle method??

Not too sure where to run it in yet, if i could do it in a day Id probably do it around bradleys area then get it courier'd back down to mine in a van, least that way bradders there if anything goes wrong whilst running it in

I would say yes and have a run a new top end in day with the heat cycle method others may disagree but we all seem to have our own methods and variations to running a new top end in

Yeah. We all have our own methods. Personally I would give it more time to run it in. Its not a hogh performance machine so its not going to be the end of the world if you don't Torque it exactly.

I've never bothered with a torque wrench on a single cylinder 125 before tbh lol, just do it up tight as you can with spanner, be fine...

I recommend this one:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_178843_langId_-1_categoryId_165469

I done a fair bit of research before buying this one and I love it, especially compared to the £20 rolson one I got from ebay beforehand which didn't inspire confidence to say the least. The Halfords one looks and feels very much like the snap on ones I used when traning with Toyota as a youngster. And imo all of Halfords Professional range that I have used have been top quality and just as good as some of the tools 3x more expensive. And they have lifetime warrenty, which is nice. lol

I got a halfords professional socket set. 130 pieces for £80. Very pleased with it. Haven't broken anything yet. Very good bit of kit. I'd reccomend it.

I just do mine up as tight as I can in the diagonal motion, then check they're tight as they go again, boom job done, three heat cycles then take it easy for 100 miles. But let it tick over to get hot before riding.

After 100 miles pin it everywhere, what I did.

I can second the Halfords pro socket stuff, had them for a few years and they look really shiney and the box is quite nice - unless you open it upside down and then everything ends up on the floor. **** knows if they work though as I dont like getting my hands dirty.
