Paid £17 for Dep pipe, knew it had somewelding done...turns out it is very poor welding. Been attacked with arc welder by looks of it. Is it worth salvaging at that price..needs 3 or welds removing I think and doing properly.  How easy to remove weld spots? Think gonna call in some favours in workshop at work. Any ideas if worth messing about with? Will upload some pictures

That'll be like tissue paper dread, looks pretty rusty if you ask me, I'd be getting a wire brush on it first, see if any more welding needs doing, or even if its worth doing at all, depending on what you uncover. my ten bobs worth anyroad.

Hey look on the bright side, it might turn out a right bargain at £17 quid.

Dude! That's some poor welding!

Well they're £180 new. So if you can sort it out for less that £50 total its a bargain.

If you can tidy it up with a grinder and get it re-welded for nowt then go for it - if you gotta pay then bin it.

I 'rescued' a DEP tail pipe - ended up costing more than a decent second hand one.

Right my welder thinks he can work some magic on this pipe..can grind down and patch over. Wyen I took a wire brush to it I found other holes. Gonna cost me £30 to repair properly. Not fussed about patches as it will bevpainted andcwearing metal exhaust guard.
