the caliepr should be strongish red lines a weld as if you apply the brake it pushes forwald onto the weld over pulling away witch might rip the weld off

Has anyone done this on a Dtx or Dtr because if so id be interested in how to mount the rear calliper...becuase if i can run this as a setup for stunting there would be great things to come!! im going to tryn get a video up soon to show you guy's where im at when it comes to wheelies and stoppies, doughnuts & stuff..because with the hand brake..i could progress so much further with slow wheelies and then to learn circles mabye if it goes well...well who knows haha ;D
in the past few days there's been quite a few riders who ive never met who are saying im progressing quite well...even one said.."oh do you ride show's?" at this point i just pissed myself like...nah just goofing around really!
he then said i should look into it more and his friends agreed so here i am..looking into it more that is!
its an interesting system that i was gonna look into.
too cnc a new bracket would be very hard and very expensive, look to adapt the current one or maybe combine thhe dtx and the dtr as the are slightly different, maybe knitrting the two together u can make a duel caliper bracket...... just a thought i had lol
What do they use to operate the brake once its been setup and where do they put it, surely not another similar sized leaver on the bars to operate it?? Lol, intrested in doing this
got a lead on it and just working out the kinks atm
basically on stunt bikes they use a master cylinder from a sports bike they have mastercylinders with a cable to a bottle so you put this upside down with the bottle the right way up but your talking £50+ for master cylinder and normally they go Brembo so thats 150+
but when you think there stoping a 200+kg 600plus cc bike so we dont need that on dt's
so my plan is a master cylinder form a gilera runner there made to go on that side and for rear calipers plus it will kinda match the dt one
allso just getting info on the length of a rear cable from a runner as they go from the bars to the back wheel on peds so there long should be right side from the bars of my dt to the rear master cylinder and there £25ish for a braided one bonus.
plus this little adapter that is cheaper and easier then welding up brackets.
the adapter eliminates the rear reservoir and you put the hose from the front master there so it works on the back brake
Right leg (Amputation or restricted strength/mobility):
This is usually a simple matter of transferring the rear brake control pedal to a handlebar-mounted lever. This can take the form of a thumb-operated lever or a more conventional lever mounted in tandem with the front brake lever or clutch lever. Where the machine has a twin disc front braking system one of the callipers can be linked to the rear brake system (as on many Moto Guzzis) and the other front calliper used with a thumb-brake or tandem lever. Another method of adapting the rear brake system is to use a linkage to transfer the brake pedal to the left side of the machine. This can be sited either alongside the gear pedal or directly behind it for heel operation. 1. Left or right hand twin levers 2. Left-hand thumb-brake (7/8" bars only) 3. Crossover linkage to left side of bike
seen some one diy some thing like this in the past and just put clutch on a thumb lever and put back brake lever in its place by just running a longer hose kind thing
mdk with the one photoed there both fluid so useless to us lads and seen the thumb ones useless tbh on offroad bikes mainly aimed at sport bikes.
tbh 2 or 3 calipers are only needed on big heavy bikes for serious stunting on a dt you only need one caliper its just a pain sometimes to work it out as your going 2 imputs into one out put
and when you press one in it will push the outher out if that makes sense
Errr..thinking at this time hurts for me as ive just finished a nightshift!
1.Well the most simple option is a custom lenth braided hose and a "moped master cyclinder" and to just do..away with the footbrake! which in its self is so simple..but a **** idea really because i like my rear brake being under my foot.
2.Use toy's sugestion with good welds and maybe a hole drilled and bolted to the orginal caliper bracket it should hold sweet even under vibrations..
3.To go all in and buy a 636 rear piston and then fit..a self tapping banjo bolt to where the fluid resivoir attaches and then run a brembro lever off of an r1 with a raised fluid pot.
options 1 & 2 are way cheaper by far and with bit of faffing it should work pretty damn well!
Cost is the main thing really i wouldnt mind just disconnecting my rear brake for a few days to run the hand brake just to get a feel before i spend cash and time slapping my engineer friends into custom fabbing stuff for me! im felling toy's suggestion but we shall see!
Well I was just doing some research into that self tapping adaptor and a few american's on a forum were saying the one for the kawasaki 636..also fits the drz...so any one have an idea if the drz rear master is the same as the dtr it's a long shot..but it's worth asking before spending
if they fit into the drz without much problem i rekon it will fit the dt if you look the bit you need to remove looks the same as the dt when i get some money ill buy the adapter
See I'm thinking it will and should fit,but like yourself I am also waiting until payday :D I'm just hoping it will bolt in place! because obviously where it bolts into..well the original resovoir is circlipped in place so I'm still having doubts about this adapter..
well from looking at the drz that is circlip as well im thinking of buying a spear rear master removing that plastic part and hoping i can just tap it and thread that adapter in
for me its either the end of the month or if some of the people who owe me money pay me XD
i got my master cylinder lever and lines and the lines way way way to long hahaha so he going to bring around a selection of lines for me to try but i rekon a front brake line from a dt will work i have a spear i would try but this master i have doesnt take banjos so restricted to ped lines atm lol
I've spent a good 4hrs studying master's and this teardrop adaptor..what we need is a list of bikes which this valve simply bolts onto and then we could just eBay hunt for pictures to see which comes closest to the dtr one..
We know so far it fits the 636,the cbr models for sure and apparently itsselftapping but I'm not so sure!
