started checking the bike (kinda pre mot) noticed the frame number has been completely covered by the powder coaters. I sanded away at the area and got back to bare metal and they have blasted the numbers off....
You might have to go down to your friendly MOT bloke with your v5 and a pic of the shotblasted frame, and explain the crack to him and see what he says, he might be able to make out the numbers by using the v5, and possibly re-stamping the vin numbers back on, must say I've not come across this before so I'm just guessing mate.
Have pics of number before coating, and they match the v5. Just gutted as every time I get close to the bike being on the road something else gets in the way... I will speak to mot tester tomorrow I guess
first time I hear this one also those numbers must have been light stamped to have been blasted away ? but if the frame is old and had more than one paint jobs over time they could have been sanded back to micro stamps just sitting on surface .
mine and seans frames numbers are covered, shouldnt be a problem until and if you come to sell it as long as if you take it to a more lenient mot garage, defiantly dont be taking it to something like a yammy dealership which does mots too though
Get the VIN off the V5 and stamp it into the headstock yourself. Done this with two bikes - one of them DVLA told me to do it. Had them MOT'd a few times no problem.
