3 points £60 fine for no L plates

yeh im not arguing im just putting out there what happens when you dont have them on
i dont think there will many people who would get 6 points and i dont feel lucky in that sense however i think if the copper doesnt like you for any reason he could give you the full 6 points and impound your bike resulting in a fine and £200+ to get your bike back!

also sticking your L on the rear mud guard isnt ideal and could result in a warning just like wrapping the front round fork leg but the copper who pulled me said he wouldnt have been bothered if my front was wrapped around the fork leg so it can be hit and miss sometimes

i dont do green laining anymore so the L's are on there and i also have a spare in my bag incase it falls off - i had a stick on one that i stuck to some plastic and put a couple of holes in the top so i could mount it from my numberplate using the plastic bolts at bottom but it just ripped off.

hey boys and girls

normally i use my bike on a weekend for some greenlainging so i take off my L plates and to be fair i never bothered to put them back on the rear was a solid plastic one that bolts onto the bottom of reg plate and the front was just wrapped around fork leg however i used the bike to go to work (15ish miles)

coming home i noticed a traffic car behind me a big arse range rover he flashed me over checked the bike and basicly said ive never had L's on the bike and because i was riding outside my license restrictions he threw the book at me £60 fine, 3 points and a producer.

to be fair i was expecting atleast a warning at first - a little gutted i didnt put them back on and also feel a little hard done by considering ive never been in a police car or a police station the whole 31yrs ive been alive and also when he says he should impound my bike but unfortuantly he had somewhere he needed to be and didnt have time to wait for recovery truck.

went to produce my license other day and the police in there couldnt belive he had been so harsh but told me there is jack **** i can do basicly - in there words "he must have been having a bad day" not as bad as me i guess :(

so a word to all you l plated dodgers get them on cos there are plenty coppers out there will do you without a warning

have a nice day

tbh its stupid not to have them on.

if you did not have front and back on you got lucky you can get 3 for each plate.

i used to have a sticky one on the back mudguard and a sticker one on the headlight cowl.

i would then back the broken part of a l plate behind the plate and if i got pulled and they had ago about wear it was i would explain i go offroad and they brake you can still see the remaining form the last one.

untill one day i was told his son did the same on his dt and that he knows that's what happens so said i should buy a flixie one form ebay that's what he did

so i did and never broke one again

What a right bellbox. It's unfortunate really. I've never had any since the whole time i've owned my dt. And have been extremely fortunate not to have been stopped. They're on now though. I don't want to take any chances and i want my full license.

All bike traffic stop once and I was bricking it, you never want to ride up to a all police bike traffic stop. Rear L on mudguard and one size down plate.

One officer dealt with me but didn't say much more than 'you know it's wrong, sort it out or another cop might not be so generous'. So yeah definitely down to how bored they are.

We know the rules though so cant really be too upset if caught, just annoying.

Unfortunate but technically what he did was correct...

But any normal human being would have realised that giving you a bollocking and ****ting you up would have ended in the same result getting you to sort it out.

Exactly right there mate, sitting me in the copper car and telling me everything he could do for the offence I have done aswell as talking to me about putting it right then maybe make me push my bike the 2 miles home would have been more than enough to get my arse in gear and that's the truth.

I have a mortgage to pay and a 10mnth old daughter i'm providing for so the £60 hurts me more, what gets me is the fact that he never talked to me or told me off he basicly told me I'm riding outside my license so he is going to issue me points and a fine I was calm and polite and had a bit banter with him.

Took it on the chin but i now have got the L's on

Blah,blah,blah...boys stop crying and does..anyone wanna swap licence's...?!

03/11/11/....CD 10 £100 fine and 5 penalty points.

11/4/13/.....CD10 £120 fine and 6 penalty points.

11/4/13/.....LC20 £60 fine and 0 penalty points.

11/4/13/.....CD30 £120 fine and 0 penalty points.

The lesson here is dont be getting...caught infact..just dont ride your motorcycle like a unicycle if you appreciate your licence!

last week me and my mate lewy were both issued with a section 59 by post...for apparently doing wheelies along a local road in my town which is bull because we have the footage from that day and the area and the time stamp..

as you can see the amount of infractions i have on my licence is now the reason i go out to an old air strip..is to be able to do wheelies and goon around with my mates without being bollocked by the law..if i had knew about this airodrome in 2009 i would probably still had a nice clean licence..

You guy's will probably laugh about this...i do too its my own fault for being a complete and utter..****..except the l-plate LC20 the lplates were there from a previous owner and at the time i didnt know any better.

hence i argued this and only recieved a fine..if any of you ever find yourself in a situation where you know you've done wrong! and you're banged to rights..and theres no way in hell you'd get away with it...then id suggest you plead guilty to the offence early and not bother the courts...with your offence or offence's..because if you do end up going to court chance's are you'll make it 10x worse plus the court will hear yours and the police's side of the story..where as if you plead guilty..early all they will do is right you up accordingly for the offence..and not read the reports of what you did where as if a jugde hears you were being a ****..well all i can say is your going to need some grease to prep you're arse for a fisting from the "long arm of the law"

I still can't believe I've still got a clean licence in nearly 6 years of riding/driving!

I got caught doing 37 in a 30 through guildford but because they were doing an exercise with some school kids they let me off, then next day I realised the tyre on my work van was on the verge of blowing out and had a massive bulge on the tread, that's 3 points each lol. Was definitely one of my luckier days!

Hate the L plate bollocks, held a car licence for 10 years and been riding the same amount of time, just no full license. I feel you get less respect on the road because of them in my experience.

Not ruining my new bike with them, BUT better peice of mind when you do have them. Might get them on eventually but I hate them.

Do your full test then. Simple a theory test, mod 1 & 2 and you're fully legit, can take pillions too, as you're male (I assume) you should only take women as pillion's. Or a friend in need, if not you take men on the back regular you might have the ghey and the bad AIDs.

I placed mine on the front and rear mudguard, so can't be seen by the average car.

Getting a SM mudgaurd soon, so will have to improvise. Not going on my new forks though, hell no. So my new mudguard it is. :(

Doing my test next year. Something I don't want to do really but I have to. Won't be doing another CBT again that's for sure.

I'd do the test asap, just for the fact you don't have piss around booking CBTs ever again
