Has any one powder coated their frame? Is it worth doing or should i just paint it? Also how long and how much will it roughly cost to do?

Personally I prefare to get them blasted and paint them myself with 2k, powder coating is ok but when it does chip and start to lift its a nightmare to put right again.

You'll need new bearings all around if you got it sand blasted. What I'd do is just drop the engine or mask it off, take the rust off down to the metal, coat with primer and a anti-rust treatment, then spray it black again. Jobs a good 'un.

Unless you wanted to do it professionally, then a full strip down and time without a bike. Mine was in excess of a month when I stripped it down.

My entire bike is powdercoated. I like it but it chips off and you have to get on to it with some paint or chip scratch repair so the water doesn't get in.

It is really easy do damage when working on the bike. I get good rates on it though. Paying what some people charge you are better of painting. Or as mentioned you have to replace a lot of stuff cause of the sand.

£200 for everything in one of the pics below each of my posts (not the wheels)

If hadda known it would started flaking in places I would have not gone through with it tho, but looks good at the min and I'm sure it will be good for 6/12 months or so if I touch it up to seal it

What. This is the first i'm hearing about bad powdercoating. I was told if done properly will last a good 20 years. I'm getting mine done.

Stripped back to the frame and completely powdercoated.

you could always mask the number area then spray over that area with clear laquer after  be kinda like a little viewing window for the numbers

Even the best powdercoat done properly will chip in places, it's just the nature of it. To be honest all the chips on my bike have been done by me with tools when doing work.

The frame gets baked at like 200 degrees so I was told the only way would be to sand back after its been coated then lacquer

powder coating will Chip no now matter what u do but to get it to last for years and for it to never flake u must get the frame and any other parts zinc coated before powder coating other wise it's a waste of time and money
