Black DT125R stolen - Sheffield
Permalink

Hi everyone, been advised to post up on this forum regarding my bike getting lifted just over 2 weeks ago. It's been a while as I've had other things on - self employment and a baby to deal with.

Anyways, my bike was robbed early hours of Saturday morning from Shiregreen S5 area on 6/7 - thieving bastards cut 2 padlocks off my gate, smashed the disc lock off and cut through 2 chains to free it from the ground anchor.

I've seen someone riding it over the last few days - 100% sure its mine as there's certain things I did on the engine casings etc that make it unique. Last time i saw it the panels were sprayed white (was obvious as you could see the paint chipping off)

Here's a pic of it... (bit old, will upload a newer pic soon)

dsc00469ng.jpg

I've been keeping my eyes out as I'm pretty sure the tea leaf is local.

First time they tried nicking it they got as far as my gate - They made too much noise cutting the locks off it and I was straight out after em.

5 weeks later they came back and got away with it...

Pretty gutted as I just rebuilt the engine (lots of time & ££) including lots of stuff such as crank rebuild, rebore bearings etc.

Couple of unique bits on the bike...

Headlight unit isn't standard - bought a Polisport MMX headlight - http://www.polisport.com/motorbikes/produtos.php?ID=43

Has a silver DEP exhaust, the downpipe has been hand painted with silver high temp paint & has an extra tag I welded on near the cylinder (experiment)

Wheels are standard DT125R wheels but have had the tyre lettering done in white (tyre size & branding)

Rims are the Takasaga rims - lettering done in red enamel

Had a tail tidy kit with LED brake light

Front mudguard is also an MX mudguard with a silver support bracket on top

Renthal handle bars with black Polisport knuckle guards

Swingarm also painted with black enamel (grey/silver as standard)

Has stainless bolts throughout - majority are hex-head bolts (engine & panels)

*EDIT* The engine had a powervalve on there, 3MB bottom and 3BN top (bought off ebay)

Clutch casing & Gearbox casing has the lettering painted white as well.

Another identifier, the steering lock (one built into the frame) I completely removed as I never found the keys for it - drilled out the lock and just bolted the cover on there.

Anyone with info drop me a PM or get me on 07443833287

Many thanks for your time!

And OP, you aren't the guy I think you are, are you? That KTM in your picture got nicked from your work place, you had forgotten your lock and scrotes pinched it?

If it's not you apologies, looks identical to that one though.

EDIT:

FOR FUCK SAKE it IS the same one.

hey up mate good to see you made it here .. yes I am the guy on gumtree who you messaged .

and I am sure me and some of the lads will keep our eye out . good to try and remeber anything that may stand out that the common theif would not spot or change such as scratch dents - colord tape on wires - none standard bolts or screws you may have changed all little details that could still be spotted if stripped for parts or if its been used as a ringer even if the plastics have changed color ...

things that stand out is the front mud guard will have hols in where you mounted that bracket thing ..

this one cought my eye after your message but dont think its the same bike

Not the same one. Swinger has damage, exhaust is different, stock with a unknown (to me) silencer and it has different handle bars and hand guards. :(

If like you say someone has sprayed it white and you've seen them riding it, just knock the fuckers off and have it back. The serials will be long gone and they've resprayed it, so police are useless. If I was closer to you I'd spend a whole day looking for the git's and have it done for you.

Don't think they'll even bother selling it to be honest.

My shed got done over whilst we were in the house, chopped up the handlebars, and just took the bikes. Had the audacity to nick off of their own door step. They lived down the road! Seen one of them coming out and trying to start our bike up. It was a 125CC pit bike, they don't start up in gear with the clutch in like DT's do etc. So he couldn't fire it up, me and my brother ran it him, he just threw the bike on the ground. Not something you'd do if it was your own. Also had a ski mask and about three different hoodies on in September!

The locks are extremely easy to cut off. Battery operated grinder, two minute job. After they had chopped the locks off, I would have looked for some where else to keep the bikes until the locks could be replaced. Or kept them in the house. They knew they were vulnerable as they had cut your locks off already.

After such a long period of time, I bet the bike has been ran lean and ragged the tits out of. They demolished our chink off-roaders within 12 hours. Couldn't even align a rear wheel the dumb fucks.

Nothing worse than having a bike robbed! Never had any big bikes robbed but had a pw80, pit bike and nephews ktm robbed! Managed to get both the ktm and pit bike back! With the ktm the scrotes locked us in the house while they ransacked the van and my nephew watched on as they stole his pride and joy! Managed to get the door open and leg it down the street as I could hear the bike cutting out so one of them stopped and I went to swing a dig and just as I did he drew a knife so I just jumped back and called him all sorts ready to deck the f.ucker! They had the bike less than a week but only had it out the night it was robbed and it went through hell! Bike was a ktm 50 and my nephew was only 5! So was set up for the weight of a 3 stone child so the suspension was thrashed and the engine was destroyed! We'd only just got it all tricked up for him as a Christmas present so just only had a rebuild! Good luck getting your back mate! Just got to stay determined and look everywhere you can! Go round asking the local scallies that's what I did with the pit bike so only a matter of time really!

seen good results by posting stolen adverts on loads of sites with pics and description gumtree-ebay-preloved ect by doing this you can make it harder for the scum to sell it on make them worry about taking it out then there is always the chance some one will grass them up or even a neigbour looking over garden fence may spot it . helps to offer a reward and let ppl reply via email some may be put of by tel no as they may not want to be known or traced for what they may see as grassing ...

Anyone here live in or near Sheffield S5?

I've seen the bastard riding it along nethershire lane and down onto oaksfold road. Can't really go chasing the **** as much as want to a I don't have any other transport or anyone who could drive me round. I've phoned the coppers 3 times over the last 2 weeks telling them the exac same but they won't do **** all about it.

What choice do I have but sit on my arse an let the ****ers run rings at my expense?

yeah it sux big time  I spotted my brothers transalp after it was nicked I was on a kmx at the time and was so tempted to ride up to them and get it back but fact is there was at least 15 hoodies all a round it on a field and I know I would have lost the fight and my kmx also all I could do was watch . I did call some mates but at times like that you find out who your true mates realy are none would come to help .

best thing to do is try keeping tabs on locations its being used  try to narrow down to where it heads or could be stored then once you spot the house it go.s to call in the coppers [they may turn up 3 hrs later] or get as many mates as you can and go nock on the door ..

can always make the police act a little faster with a couple lies chucked in  .. if you spot it on a field or street make a call from phone box saying you just seen two lads on a bla bla bla bike holding what looked like a gun or knife and you think they are looking to rob some one or something they will respond much faster and maybe with chopper support .

I did once try to sett up a uk bike theft support group where if a bike is nicked or spotted every biker in that city or area take to the streets in a group but no one was up for it as it screamed  vigilante takeing action ourselfs ...

It's been nicked to rag round the fields round our area. someone obviously has seen me ride to my address on it as they came tru the gardns fom the houses facing oposite us. Only problem is I'm on my tod, so my only hope would be finding the address it goes to and ****ing burning it to the ground. People round here Ted to be very "clique" when it comes to thieving.

Stupid enough to **** on their own doorstep, then rub it in afterwards.

I've posted up on the Facebook link provided... I feel so sorry for every poor bastard that's had their pride n joy swiped.

Forget prison sentence for the scumbags, just chop both thumbs off! Lets see em ride a bike then!

Don't worry about spelling, it's easy to make out anyway.

Also if you're on your lonesome and aren't distinctively built, and they haven't seen you without a lid, chances are a group of them will be on the fields to rag it around.

The quicker you get it, the better. It'll be absolutely ragged into an inch of its life every time.

And the serials will be long gone, so getting it back via police is slim.

Hope they're filling the 2T up, but as they nicked it, I doubt it. :(

Just go there and be calm, and ask for a go on the bike, proceed to rag it home. Keep it in your house, empty the fluids before-hand. wink

Think "Do I want to be beaten/stabbed over a bike?" before getting angry. biggrin

If you have a day or two off work, do what I'd do. Go to the place they keep riding it, grab a big pole and block their path with it, they're dumb enough to ride into it, fuck 'em thieves anyway. I recommend bringing a friend or two, because you'll be fuming when you catch them. I'm usually laid back, but when I seen someone on my brothers bike I just lost it.

Or alternatively just push them off of it. biggrin

Chasing them in a car won't do much, you'll need someone with a motorbike, preferably an enduro one. Chase them through the fields until they run out of petrol or give up, which ever comes first.

As for the police, they were useless when my shed got done over. Forensic officers didn't come around for three days, however they did tell me a bike was running around just down the road and they had numerous reports of it. Sure enough that's where we saw the scrote with our bike.

I bet you £100 the kid riding it around that area is a local lad.

P.S you could just hang around the field they're ragging it and ask them for a go, then go home on it sharpish. That's IF they let you have a go. Happens near me a lot, they let any Tom, Dick or Harry ride the bikes they nick.

next time they're riding in the area, if they stick to the same place call the police and tell them, when they say they can't do **** all call them back 5-10 minutes later and say "nevermind, i bashed them in the face with a cricket bat and took it back".

Guaranteed they'll be there in 5 minutes lol

The police are useless, they'll arrest him in this situation.

I'll tell you the reason the police don't bother, they know they ain't got a chance in catching them, nor charging them with the theft. Only handling stolen good, that's IF they have left the serials on, which I doubt if they've painted it.

Police didn't give two fucks, sent two officers around on the day, then we rang them telling them we got them back, they came around three days in a row asking names, in the end told them to more or less piss off and we weren't pressing charges. Didn't have a chance of pinning anything on them. They knew the law (the thieves) and knew how to avoid prosecution.

But the thieves that stole my bikes are marked for life in my eyes, any of my bikes go missing they'll be the first to hear from me.

Not at all boxing. My bike got nicked and two officers got it back the next day. Secured it and waited for me to come and collect it. They also came round and did a forensics on the bike. And also did follow up phonecalls.

I agree if i handle the matter myself i would have ended up with gbh. But thats different. Thats proveable. Like said the charge would be handling stolen goods. Unfortunately.

I know how you feel mate. Exact thing happened to me when I was 17 with my first bike. Police got the bike back eventually and we had to pay £120 to get a load of scrap out the fecking pound, makes you proud to be British that does.
