Well thats another 12 months Mot done  strait through no advisories even , but then I did have a look at it first , about an hr before and it was due and OOOOps no right hand front indicator , panic panic panic bulb ok off with the head light cowl to get at the wires poor earth on first connector quick clean up and sqwert with the good old WD and job sorted down to the test station with 5 mins to go  , half hr later man says all done horn did not work just gave the wire a twist in the connector and it is ok now so that will do , so it looks as if I will have to go through all the connectors and give them all a quick check over and a blast of the good old WD , just to be on the safe side , and may be get a new plug the one thats in has done just over a thousand miles then it is going to the IOM on the back of the Bugilow in 10 days time for the Manx GP for three weeks FUN

Good stuff, nice to hear that old bikes still sail through MOT's when looked after properly. Mind you, the place I've been to have passed some right states lately..

Apart from them Renthal handle bars it's all stock.

And as for derestricting the 89 ones, it just involves setting up the PV doesn't it?

No the restrictor washer in the expansion box has to be cut out and then all is well I believe some up jet the carb as for the PV as I understand it if you mess with that all you do is move the power about but as it goes nice and clean from low to the 5 and a half thou and then sings as sweet as you could wish for I am living the ( don't fix what aint broke ) life and loving it , could do with a new seat cover but thats it for now and that wont get done till the marshaling is done after the BSB Brands Hatch meeting in October

If it's running #240 main jet, not really worth touching.

Will check the oil pump every now and again, if I was you. Mine failed and blew my piston, which resulted in my bottom end seals and bearings getting eaten from the piston fragments. :(

Have to admit I have not looked at the oil pump just going by the smoke and excess oil in the exhaust it is working well , dont know what you would look for ?? so there is a question for the gurus how do you and how often do you check the oil pump ???

I run premix now, well will when my engine returns from Norfe.

My oil pump failed, even though the oil was going down and it was running rich, it just gave out whilst I was on country lanes and blew my engine. Still smoked, but 2 strokes always smoke even if there is no oil there when cold as the oil builds up in the pipe and burns when you next start it. :|

I'd rather run premix than have an oil pump that can fail at any given moment. I'm not the first and I sure as hell won't be the last one to have an oil pump fail on a DT.
