So yeah, got a replacement carb from DeeteeMX which was sent to NORFE with my engine, been cleaned etc and setup for standard settings throughout. Now since i got the engine etc back my bike simply will not run unless the choke is on, it'll just bog down and die out, so i thought pilot jet as i've had this problem before, exact same symptoms etc, cleaned out the jets and tried again, still doing it.
This is doing my head in now i just wanna go for a ride without having to worry about anything apart from running the new engine in. Anyone have any ideas?
Pilot jet should be something between 17.5 - 25. Then screw in the airscrew fully, then about 1 1/2 turn out, and from there hold about 1/8 throttle and adjust the airscrew until it revvs the most.
When that is done, you should adjust the Idle stop screw, the big screw in the middle. But this should not be set up before you got the right pilot jet and the airscrew set up right. That screw adjusts the height of the slide when it's on idle, giving you the possibility to adjust how high revvs you want it to idle on, and it cannot be closed.
So screw it out completely, then screw it back in slowly until it gets a bit stiffer (knowing from there on it will start adjust the slide), then just screw it in a few turns more until it starts to idle normally
I had this on an N reg DT with only 1000 miles from new on the clock, I replaced every jet with new and the needle valve with new cleaned it out more times than I care to remember and it still would not run properly. I just could not get all the **** out of all the passage ways that had gathered with it being stood for so long. Soaked it in alloy wheel cleaner sonic cleaned it the lot all to no avail. Threw it in the bin in the end and put another carb on that I knew was good, started 2nd kick and ran like a dream. I know its not what you want to hear but sometimes you be driven round the bend with them.
well i shall give it another go but i bought the carb from deeteemx haha. maybe its just setup wrong i'll have a fiddle wth the screws see what i can do

Set up wrong surely not you have just got it back from Norfe he will have checked all the jets etc. There is only the float hight, mixture screw and needle clip position that you can check if all the jets are standard. Take it fully apart the back off it the lot and try and get into all the passage ways and check everywhere.

strand of wire from a old mtb brake cable is great for getting in to small holes and cleaning if the carb has been stood for a while and has the varnish type blockages take anything rubber or plastic of and sit it over the flame on cooker it soon bubbles out
Dude know................... sometimes its just not worth the messing about for hours on end.
yeah I can understand that.
but I like the challange sometimes and sitting for 3 hours with a strand of wire tooth brush and a old carb in bits on the table is realy relaxing almost like meditation lol . some people would find it realy frustrating but thats my idea of heven
