Hi.

I've been offered a 2000 Dt thats been an off road bike for a few years. The frame has the numbers still.

My Q is how do you go about reg"ing it to go back on the road ????

Thanks in advance for all and any help

Brad

first you need the plate numbers to then file for a v5 from dvla as 99.9% of dts out there have been road raged there might be a few unregisterd ones floating about.

not sure exactly how you get a plate from the vin mabey call up yamaha im not sure once you have the plate i would then do hpi check and most "field bike" its stolen then riden offroad and sold on

once you have the plate and its all clear you file for a v5 from dvla and i think theres a £25 fee for that

yeah its time consuming and casts to get hold of any details from frame numbers alone there are guys out there that have some sort of trade hpi checker that can get the reg and hpi from frame numbers but always at a coast around £25-30 ..

scrim is a great guy and may help you out if needed and would say if some one did trade hpi check it and got you the numbers they have done you a massive favor so very much the done thing to (buy them a drink) or slip them £20 .

thats my kinda style buy some thing cheap take what you need of it  or give it a service and wash then sell back on for  bit of profit ..

in the past I have bought full bikes  swapped over bits I needed like tyres wheels ect then sold them back on  got my  bits for free and made a little prifit along the way .

yeah if working from a budget can be the best way some will look around for  new wheels breaks or forks when in fact it can work out cheaper to spo a cheap bike with those bits on buy it swap over or  steal the bits you need then sell it back on at no loss I have done many many bikes this way so in the end they stand me at nothing cost wise .
