Bought the bottom end of a 1987 bike code starting 35A, two crank halves, crank shaft albeit seized, gearbox and selector drum £22.50 plus £20.00 p and p.

seller said parts would just need a clean and were usable, yeah right mate just the slight issue of a hole in the bottom of the case with some cow boy welding putty sealent where what looks to be where a sump bolt goes. Ie not useable No threads apart from putty ones lol.

I wouldnt care care as much if he hadn't done me on the postage so much, so do you think I should ask for a refund, sorry no pics cause I am at work.

Can an you get refunded some p and p when item wasn't as described. As I wouldn't have touched had they been honest.

Thanks guys

Definitely mate. That's not on if it's something obvious. And really! £20 for postage. What method was he using. Did he send it to the moon first? Could get that sent for £7! Annoys me when people have stupid P&P.

Same story with that TZR engine I bought mate. Said it had good compression. Since stripping it, it's clear that it's not. Far from it! Good thing I was going to rebuild it anyway.

Yeah mate, made a mistake in not asking for the codes in the first place cause it's a bit older than I thought think it is an LC engine? Starting in 35A still not the point though

I am still stood here eying it up,

Sell the gear box and drum £15

Balancer and weight £5

Half with no hole in it £10

Or ask the flea for my money back lol!! We could sell crap all day on there not being honest so they shouldn't get away with it.

Just sent this, going to go for a partial refund of around £15- £20 think that is fair tbh.

Dear ebay flea seller (joke)

I have received the DT 125 bottom end. I am displeased that the parts were described as in working order just needing cleaning, the problem being the hole In the bottom of one of the crank halves that has had a botched weld on it, even worse is the putty substance that is in this hole with thread marks where I imagine the sump bolt once went.

This means the half in question is not usable for the full rebuild I had planned.

Regards

Stuart

Classic fob off, ignoring the problem.

Hi Stuart,

Sorry for your disappointment in your item, we pride our selves on giving a good description on all our items we sell on eBay and try our best to be as accurate as possible !

The listing title clearly states that the engine has a seized crank and also in the description states :

"This engine has a seized main bearings but gearbox selects all gears."

Please contact us if you are still unhappy with this

These things are all fixable, nowhere to tighten a sump bolt into is not lol!!!

LOL!

I'm sorry but that is just deflecting the real issue. The fact that it's seized isn't the problem. I would rebuild a 'Working' engine if i bought it. And I that's what I'm doing. I bought that engine working with the intent to rebuild because I don't trust an annonymous user. This not being the case. If i found out it wasn't a 4DL I would want my money right back.

Yeah pritty much what I will be saying in my next message ie the crank was getting replaced ect ect. I think £15 back is reasonable if not £20 lol.

Got some pics but I don't think you can show pics in eBay messages. They will be hoping I have been fobbed off now.... Lol!

Thank you for your reply.

I have no problem with the crank being seized, this is not the problem here, I was well aware of the crank being seized from the description as you have stated.

The problem is that the bottom end can not be used due to the hole in the bottom of the crankcase that has had a very poor attempt at a repair to say the very least. There is no way this bottom end can be used , it has no means for it to hold oil, meaning it isn't useable condition. If this problem had been stated in the description I would not have bought the bottom end, as I need a useable bottom end For a full rebuild.

Regards

Stuart

Pritty surprised with my last reply. The guy seems like he is going to sort this out for me.

Dear 2011stuart1986,

Hi Stuart,

In that case my apologize for noticing the fault in advance of sending the item to you, we do do our best to try to list items as well as we can but sometimes some items do slip through.

I can get hold of a complete DT engine if that will help you? what year bike are you trying to repair?

I'm happy to help let me know what you would like me to do.

Now I have to decide what to ask for lol.

Refund which I would pay for return postage?

Or exchange for a 3mb 3bn if he says he has some?

Really pleased with the response to be fair, was expecting a long tiring battle after the first message.

Depends. They may want $$$ for another engine. If it's a straight swap bar postage then it might be a goer.

Just waiting on a reply, asked what engines he had to offer, and if none were suitable I would want a full refund after I posted it to him since he is willing to help me out.
