hi guys so after putting the engine back together i tried to start it and it wnt start on fully charged battery it starts engaging the engine only when the battery is nearly dead.
so i removed the spark plug grounded it and when i just press the button spark appears than when the engine spins faster the spark disappears again until i release the button and than it gives a spark for a second,
so its almost like the engine spins too fast for it to spark which is silly and i have never seen this before,, any ideas?
Nah it's not that it's spinning too fast. The starter motor doesn't churn the engine over faster than 10'000 RPM.
You don't have a kickstart I take it?
Try bumping the bike with the ignition off. Does it attempt to start? I'm not saying it will but does it fire for even a moment. I know my bike is playing up. It won't spark at all sometimes. Turn the ignition off and kick it and it splutters into life before dying because of the ignition. Then turn the ignition on and it fires up first time.
Dont have a kicker on it or a chain yet to give it a go on bumping. Yes i did have it running for couple of seconds. It seams like when it spins up fully it looses the spark. I forgot to mention that 1 of the wires coming out from the engine was cut when i bought the bike so i got that soldered together, and a wire came out from the connector aswell so i got that extended and soldered straigt into the wire coming out from the engine.
i see everybody is mind f...ed like I am with this, in the morning i will remove the startor cover, maybe i didnt put it on propaly when i swaped it from the other engine, hopefully this will do it as thats the only thing that i can think of.
well the generator etc was fine, what it turned out to be is one of the wires from the pickup coil that was damaged didnt want to pass electricity through the soldering, maybe i solldered it wrong, once the battery charges up fully i will recheck it to make sure its fixed, and hopefully get the bike started :)
