Bike Bogging When Low Revs

Not DT Related but still a 2smoker none the less.

So when bike starts it runs fine. Seems to only start on the choke.

If you warm it up and shut choke down, When you try to pull away it bogs down and dies.

If you keep choke on and pull away it works fine and goes up the revs how it should. Any idea what it could be?

Bike is a CR80 2002 model Checked reeds and they fine,

you had the carb off and given it a good service and clean ? that would be my first port of call realy sounds like a fueling problem or air leak .

clane and check filter - carb - inlet anyone been turning the screws on carb or adjusting anything .

eliminate things

so electrics are fine as it starts good and has good spark

gears and engine seem fine as it runs and starts rides ok

leaves you with fuel system - carb -air filter - inlets

check this video yours anything like this problem wise ? turn out to be his inlet had a air leak .

mines not that bad. Only bogs when it's actually in gear. When checked reeds was going to rebuild carb but 1 bolt is rounded off so it's not been done atm until i find a way to remove the clip on the rubber boot connecting airbox to carb.

Found the issue. Carb was fine. Checked tranny oil and was almost empty so topped up and it was burning it. Ripped clutch case off and their it was. Crank seal sat on crank :S

Put it back in to test until i can order another 1 to change it out.

Hmm, I believe if the crank seals go they tend to take out a lot of other stuff as well :( May need a full rebuild. I'm sure I read it somewhere.

when the seals go they tend to either draw air or draw oil dependant on the side- doesnt need a rebuild due to seals goin unless you seize engine or actually cause other damage. Seals are easy to replace- on the DT anyways-having done my own :p

Yeah. I just remember NORFE saying something bought if they've gone and let oil through that they tend to take out other stuff. Can't remember though and cba to look for it.

Usually if one seal goes they all go.

That's all I remember. May be worth getting all seals and bearings done whilst there.
