Crank shaft seals possibly.

That is far too much smoke out of that can. And that's not two stroke either. At least it doesn't look like it since it smokes when the engine dies indicates something worse. My suspician crank shaft seal.

to be honest..i would swap your carb from your running bike and try it on this bike first. crankseals will normally show when engine is warm- then they smoke like a bugger!

try the carb, also what does top end look like?

Crank shaft seals are cheap too! But yeah do what Dread said first.

The plug would probably be ruined after all that oil.

Has it got a flatslide carb? tm28ss. Sounds like its reving quite high. It could have the wrong lower throttle cable on which would prevent the carb slide ever closing. I had that problem with the bike im selling. I would strip the carb and remove all jets, cleaning all passages and jets. Look through the jets against the light to make sure they are clear. It should be running either a 210 or 240 main jet.

To check for air leaks, spray WD40 around the inlet manifold joint and anwhere else you think it may be leaking and see if it makes a difference. Could be smoking from lots of oil in the exhaust if someone has been running it premix as well as oil pump. An old exhaust thats not been run for a while will also smoke alot. You should have seen the clouds of smoke i got from this DTR i just got running for the first time in years. And when i rebuilt the one in my profile photo that i rode to john o groats and lands end. As we headed up the A24 as the exhaust was clearing it was beautiful!

I cleaned up the carb im not sure about the throtthe sticking as i had it open when i took this video as it wdnt idle on its own. Still got to make sure there is no air leeks

Ah ok probably not a short cable issue then. If it wont idle then i would suggest pilot jet problem. Remove it and clean the passage with compressed air and carb cleaner. Again, hold the jet up to the light and see if its blocked. compressed air and carb cleaner again either way. Set the air screw to 1-1/2 turns out from LIGHTLY bottomed in. Check the fuel filter on the taps as well as the one that sits in the fuel inlet on the carb where the pipe connects.

If you have the ability to I'd try and borrow an ultrasonic cleaner and dissasemble the whole carb and do it that way but if not just make sure everything is perfectly clean and clear. I reckon its the pilot jet personally.

i cleaned the pilot jet alredy, im thinking it might be something to do with the air leak somewhere, as the air mixture screw dsnt really make much difference

have you checked your piston and barrel with a vernia caliper ? to make sure its a snug fit and the ring gap..as it seems you've got compression squeezing past the rings thats why it sort of farts when you kick it over my dtr did that before it died completley...minus the sparks..although my ktm125exc used to spit sparks until i adjusted the carb setup as it was running lean..hope that helps although its not good news nor is it much to go on.

i have removed the generator and it turned out the woodruff key was fked now new one in place just waiting on a new gen plate as this one was cracked and not long till it will fall to bits. i think the top end has a slight leak through the head
