The other night I changed the clutch cover gasket as it was leaking oil I have now noticed that the coolant is leaking into the gearbox fairly quicklydoes anyone know what thos could be caused as it must be something ive done as it wasnt doing it before
Waterpump seal springs to mind on this one. Not sure how you would damage it by just changing the gasket over.
Otherwise actually come to think of it. There is a little bit where the crankcase passes water through to the pump that passes the cover. Could have snagged the gasket there
Gonna have to come off again then was a bit of a job last time as I couldnt get the metal pipe out of the water pump housing so had to leave it on is there anywhere I can get the gaskets from other than yamaha
Thanks if I have caught the gasket do u think I would be qble to still use it as being nearly xmas it miggt be a while till yamaha can order me one will take cover completley off this time instead of tieng out of the way.it must be a big leak though cos the oil/water was even dribbling out of clutch arm where cable attaches
Wouldnt know where to start with making them presume u ise gasket paper.jist cant understand how the pump seal can go didnt even take the pump off wish id have left it seeping oil now lol is it easy to disconnect and reconnect oil pump cables or will the pump need setting up again as didnt disconnect it last time used to have a old rd 125 lc and was definitely alot easier to work on lots more room
Personally when i am doing work with the clutch i just leave the oil pump all connected.
I reckon it's possible you just snagged the the gasket. So before you buy seals lets have a look st the gasket.
Yeah just buy gasket paper from halfords or somewhere. What you do is wet the old gasket the press it on the paper. Cut that out. Usually i use the case but since the case will have lines connected to it i'd just use the old gasket.
Secondly the water pump seal is different. You'd have to get one. PJME sell them. That's where i'd get one from.
Thirdly i will still need to have a little think about why you're having problems. Bit too tored to think at the mo.
Am hopefully going to take clutch cover off again tonight and hope I can see something obvious will have to give the metal water pipe a good tug this time and hopefully it will come off
Think I have found the issue upon rempving again have noticed where the inlet hole for the water channel is I must of nipped the gasket on the left hand side of the hole as this chunk was laying in the bottom of the engine case.am just going to use some rtv high temp silicone as another gasket for the minute until I can get hold of another one
After 3 oil changes the oil is still going milky its not losing coolant anymore is there a better way of flushing engine out.as the gear oil is getting a bit expensive to keep buying.this is what ive done so far.
drainded out the contaminated oil
filled with fresh gear oil and ran for ten mins then drained
Filled with fresh stuff again took out on a 2 mile run drained it again
filled again with gear oil took for another 2 mile run
oils still milky though
Is there a better way of flushing the engine

Before the coolant problem I was using castrol 10w40 fully synthetic 4t oil but for the flushing have been using comma 10w40 semi 4 stroke oil.dont want to put the good stuff in till all the old coolants flushed out.is there anything out there I can fill the engine to the brim with and then drain as its just not getting it all out this way
