replace bearings or not

whats the likelyhood of any of the gearbox bearings failing? about to re-assemble my engine- after bottom end rebuild. the bearings all look in ok condition but like some thoughts as to just replacing or leaving?

 

Also when replacing bearings-do i put some oil in the seats or just slot them in bare?

Mate for the price of £20 for the lot. All Koyo as well. And for the five minutes it takes.

Piece of mind.

Plus I suppose i all depends on how it's been rid and the amount oil that's been used.

When I did mine everything went into the oven for 10 minutes then they just droped straight in!

yeah priced up set £15 all in...what sealant did u use to seal 2 crank halves?

i believe looking at state of the engine when i got bike-it probably was ragged everyhere and not maintained properly.

I wouldn't know off the top of my head. It's something Norfe recommended. I don't know whether its' worked or not. It didn't work for my gearbox side case but that was missing a bolt.

yeah please..gotta get moving with this engine now..was just lazy before-just kept looking at the gears etc and thinking i cant be bothered lol

any luck cal on that sealant for crankcases pal? bearings all been ordered- just over £14 and he's only 4 mile away from me :p

Cases have now been cleaned and sprayed- just need baking in oven to set once the wife is out long enough lol

she can still smell the engine when i dropped the bearing outs last time in oven hahaha-

Doh!

Forgot. PM me. I'm always on this forum mate and if there is a message at the top of the screen i'll remember to look. Won't be hard cause I'll be puttign the bike away and voila! gasket stuff is right next to me.

i always use threebond 1104 liquid gasket, its never failed me yet.

silicone based instant gasket can be unreliable as it tends to ball up and creates an uneven contact between the mating surfaces.
