Am not so good with engines or troubleshooting so was wondering if any of the 2-stroke vets here have any idea whats wrong with the lass... It's a 2007 Cagiva Mito with around 20k miles on it
Heres a video of the issue (Turn your volume down if you don't want to go deaf ) Just wont rev past 10k and acceleration is really slugish, dont think its a powervalve issue, as i tried locking it in the open posision but still had the same problem. Has a Mitaka cylinder on it, so that has at least been changed

Jeez. I think you've answered your own question dude. If those Mitaka ones are anything like the Mitaka ones for the Aprilia then they are not very good. Port mismatch that with what sounds like a timing issue has caused that limiting.
That would be my first guess is source an original cylinder. Even if that doesn't cure it they're a damn sight better than the Mitaka ones.
I'm sure if you get the barrels side by side the problem will be evident. Be sure to post back if it is.
The timing is fixed on the these bikes. If the timing was out then it would be out at all rev ranges.
Using the information given he has not mentioned anything about timing. The one thing he does mention is not original cylinder. So using this information i can base my theory around information.
To say it's ignition timing would still be correct. My bike has done this but my bike has a programmable ignition amd the setting was incorrect. So I could confidently make this assumption.
its fixed on the dt too but when the woodroff key snaped it was off :) i wnt think its the cylinder i had mitaka cylinders on few bikes and did thave problems with them , unless this one has a damaged port or something

Alright, I'll have to take a look at the cylinder, hopefully now on sunday.

I'll have to take a look at that too (Sorry about your bike btw :/ )

Don't quite remember, haven't had her running for a while as it's been so damn cold outside
Also, could the problem be with the ignition coil? Found one from another Mito for about 10 pounds, not sure if I should try replacing that
And No Victor, I didn't start it from cold and go for max revs, trust me, it wouldn't start that easily cold
Only pic I have of her with the fairings still on (Bought new fairings, slowly being painted)

Didn't get too much done today. Cleaned the outside of the engine (damn dirty ) and drained the coolant and made a huge mess in the process. So now everything is done for removing the cylinder for a check-up.

yep :D that reminds me that i need to get the mito sorted thats at mine too :D could you take a picture of the starter relay, at the back where the battery is there is starter relay, and 2 cube like relays one for indicatorst the other one for ignition so if you could could you please take a picture of the cube with the wires visible so i could make sure the one on my mito is wired up correctly
My DT did this but wasn't boggy. Turned out to be the silencer packing.
Could try warming it up to a temp where you'd rev it this high, then take the silencer off (being careful you don't burn your hands) then rev it up and see if it happens again.
Do you have any tapping / knocking noises from the engine when cold or warm?
Right, so today my dad (who is a mechanic), borrowed me his telescopic camera and we had a look inside the cylinder with that and the cylinder looked just about new and the piston had some marks, but nothing that would affect it like this, according to him.
Also checked the reed valves and nothing wrong with them either, they also looked almost brand new.
Then I was going to check the carb, but the damn nut wouldn't budge (see picture) Any ideas?

Put the bike together today after checking the cylinder, carb and airfilter(nothing wrong there), and after I rev it to those rpms and let off the throttle it does backfire (I think, flame/sparks pops out the muffler)
What should i try next?
