If i was riding round there often i would drop my gearing, ever since i went offroad set-up i went down to 12 on the front 50 on the back helps to stay in the band as the dt is under powered compared to a crosser, and tbh im not planning on going 60mph+ offroad anyway!!
Whats the problem you trying to find the right set-up?
the common offroad mx set-up is 13:50, unless you want the top end on the road just drop it right down! With ny 12:50 set-up its so fun going through the gears offroad whilst not getting any bog its stays in the band, far more responsive and snappy with the low gearing

are you running 520 conversion? i can't find these size's in 428
the problem is first is too long and has a bit bog at low revs when going up anything
would also like to be able to pull away in 2nd

Your set-up is making your gears too long, burn your clutch out if it struggles, especially in 1st
If you want to pull away in 2nd without having to slip the clutch like f*** your looking at a 12:55 or better a 11:52, with my current 12:50 i would just about get away with it but after a while the clutch will burn out, 11:52 shouldn't be so stressful
If you want to work it out yourself 3 teeth on the rear sprocket are equivalent to 1 on the front, but i would strongly suggest dropping to a 12 atleast on the front and a 50+ on the rear
Have a play around with the different ratios if you've got abit of cash laying about, you will eventually find the one that suits you
