hey guys currently rebuilding another dt but i seem to run into stupid problems and i panic over nothing and always need a second opinion so where better to come than here :D
anyhoo just got this new barrel and it measures 55.5mm at the bottom of the bore and dead 56mm at the top im not too sure if this will cause piston rattle the piston can move a little bit when in bottom stroke yet its flush and tight with a 3-4mm gap from the piston to the barrel at top stoke.
just wondered if it will be safe to go ahead and build this with a standard 56mm mitaka or should i rebore ? :/
You have to ask yourself why the barrel was removed from the bike before you bought it. Personally I'd rebore a 2nd hand barrel.
If you're on a tight budget it doesnt look like it will cause too much for a problem so i'd say go for it. If you've can afford another £50 for a rebore and piston kit then do it for peace of mind.
so after getting this barrel honed and looking all good thought id put it all 2gether to see if it just might work but .... wont start without 1/3 of throttle, backfires when kicking and has a mean nasty noise coming from the top end needless to say i wont be trying to start it up again :( waste of damn money
