Bike on finance?

Hey guys. Long time no post but anyways, sick of all the little repairs etc i have to do to my damn bike, my 230 isn't going to get finished now and the 125 just isn't good enough imo to go travelling to europe so i'm considering a bike on finance.

Anyone have any experience with dealers etc? Any tips etc? What freebies can i safely expect them to tack on if i go for a new bike? Thinking of the Kawasaki Versys 650, looks boss :P

Loans are maybe but they have 0% finance available on these bikes. Just want something thats gonna stand up to the abuse and be good for long distance riding.

Couple of mates want to ride to Belgium, don't trust the DT125 past london let alone across borders...plus hthe headlight is so **** i don't even like going out at night now.

why is finance bad?

if you get a good low % its a fantastic way to have a new bike and not shell out a bomb.

as sean knows iv had 3-4 new bikes on finance and its always been to my advantage

Yamaha XT660 is a good bike. Personally not a fan of finance so would say, save up for it.

Finance is bad because if you can't afford it now or save up for it, then you probably can't afford the huge loss when it come's to selling up.

A loan isn't bad if you use the money to make more money

from what I seen its not a good idea massive loss in what you paid and in some cases people end up wanting shut of or selling the bike when they still owe half the money .

being all new sounds great but even new bikes just like cars break down .

for about 1.5 -2k you could get a great used bike .

I've heard similar stories. About how it's fantastic you get what you want. However the novalty wears off and you are left with paying the prive for x amount of months. I did want to buy something on finance (actually a lot of stuff) but after talking to people they said pretty much what is said here.

Funny enough I said the exact same thing to my mate but about a big shiny expensive BMW he is getting a massive stupid loan for like 20k or something daft.

Im spending 2.7 - 3k on a good quality used car I will shop around for and have saved for in a private sale.

i told him it's all good for a month till the novelty wears clean off and it's just another car getting you from A to B whilst screwing you financially. Motoring is expensive enough doing it my way.

The novelty factor is massive, a lot of us know from experience.

You got to realise too that when you use finance it costs much more, you MUST have fully comp insurance, so there's a few bob extra, the interest can be fairly high so theres a few bob more, no it's much cheaper if you can do a cash buy. The only thing in life you'll definately need to use a loan for is a house, and that's an anvil around your neck for 25 years, thank fook mines all done with, and I now own my house and not the bank anymore.

Yeah I'm the same. Only noose round my neck is my house.

Every single other purchase is saved for and bought in full insurance, cars , bikes , phones the lot.

Its less of a novelty thing that i want though, i'm honestly sick of the 125. When it's working its a fantastic bike but there's always something going on, got a ****ing screw in the rear tyre the other week which i know is quite common but honestly i want to get rid of it.

I was looking forward to getting the lanza on the road and looking silky smooth but it just doesn't look like it's gonna happen. ****ing shame too it could be done by now if the swingarm bolt wasn't a pile of crap lol.

I wouldn't get a financed bike unless it was on 0% interest anyway. It's less the appeal of "new bike" but more "if anything goes wrong its my own damn fault".

As for saving up, if i did that i'll get myself a decent and reliable bike sometime in the next decade. **** that i want shot of the 125 now

A new bike is just as likely to fail, as a low mile's secondhand bike that's been maintained.

Go secondhand save money

seriously guys come on? if finance was solo bad it would silly to even consider it

however if your like most people with a stable income and you want something then its a way around it. why work 3 years to buy a new bike when you can have that bike for 3 years paying it off. as sean said most do 0% so its not like your loosing out.

you have the knowledge of being the first owner, you have a warranty. many do free break down and recovery

if you chop and change bikes i could understand. but sean could have a stable steady lovely commuter without fear of breaking down and costly bills and he could use his extra dosh to buy a ally cheap toy if he desires to play about with. and when it breaks. wheel it home and jump on your new bike haha

paying up front is great but how many people have that sort of cash? someone has to buy it new haha, yes you get hit worst for depretiation but choose a good brand and model and itl still be worth good money when you px it
