You'll need to adjust the pushrod on the clutch basket. How you assemble the clutch does have an effect if the damper ring is on incorrect. But that would make it slip.

I know this sounds a bit thick but adjust it at both end. If not adjust the pushrod on the clutch itself.

struggling here now...drained oil etc..removed main clutch plate and ensured all the plates were installed correctly. then i tightened back up the springs and then tried adjusting the pushrod- doesnt seem to be enough to get clutch working? the lifter arm is incorrect alignment place?? do i need to do pushrod adjustment before tightening the spring screws?

right managed to get near enough max on adjuster at bar and lifter arm...and there is clutch action :p does that mean new clutch cable time? although with other engine it wasnt far off max too?

no mate all there!

gonna try new clutch cable first as i believe that was one of the parts i had not replaced when rebuilding last year- As mentioned above the clutch now is operational but the adjusters are nearly maxed out- which wasnt that far from when i had other engine in?

Is it a genuine cable?

My brand new crappy after market cable is maxed out. was the only way to get it to work lol!

I stripped it all down like you have done. Before I found out. wasted oil, clutch gasket ( was leaking after being disturbed had to re fit one) and water pump gasket. plus about 3 hours of my weekend. Through with buying that ebay wemoto chink $hite now,

I just buy genuine parts now after that episode.

I was absouloutly raging!!

I would say it is cheap crap one.

not really anyway to tell for sure unless you had a genuine to compare.

It just seems funny I had the exact same problem thinking it was my clutch building skills, not some cheap $hite!!

Mines still works maxed out though with no problems, was just annoyed at the waste of man hours, stress, gaskets and oil.

received cable yesterday and gotta say that it's much better fitting now. have loads of adjustment available now if needed and clutch moving in and out now.

genuinely thought i had not replaced this cable and how wrong i was.

my advice is as with throttle cable purchase genuine only!

Just a pitty I didn't warn you before you went stripping it down.

Some of these after market parts are utterly useless.

No problem.

I stripped it down twice cause since I had adjusted the push rod. The clutch was barely engaging.

Nearly got stranded on the test ride, it was so hard to get the bike moving lol which never happened when I tested it in my street.

Then the gasket was leaking so 3 times off and on! Cause of that cable, I would have happily strangled the person who designed it with pleasure I was so angry lol!

well all sealed and put back together. used some gasket sealer stuff from the rebuild and tightened back cover. that was yesterday- filled up with oil and will seek if any leaks develop over next 12/24hrs. then can start putting back together and back on road :p
