sick of pushin my bike

well since rebuild its failed on me 4 times now seems like fuel but not certain

if I leave it 5mins it fires up n runs ok but I cant trust it now

spins on starter fine but doesn't fire up

went to petrol station this morning on the way to work , came out n wud it f**k as start

started pushin it home then I thought i'll give it a try n she fired up fine

then clutch cable fuggin snapped as I got on my drive

had a tzr that started fine run great then after about 1 mile or so would die no way in hell it would start was not untill after 3 -4 times and a couple off recoverys by my dad and hours of messing and fiddling that I search net and found .

check the tank cap breather hole for blockage cleand filler cap little bit of dirt block breather hole and boom was fixed ...blocked hole stops fuel flow and cause a vacume or something lol ..

Mine was a blocked carb, ino the feeling just going about a mile and it dies lol

i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike

wont know till morning MDK as not had time wot wiv work n family life
got my old clutch cable out n oiled it , am gonna try my old plug b4 I go strippin carb am hopin its just a dodgy plug mate

changed plug as it had a br9es in it so put my old br8es n seems 100 % better runnin much cleaner too
Only done 4 miles so far but av dodgy clutch cable now need a dtx cable n local shop wants £24 takes piss

update done 30 miles now and apart from a slight stutter on acceleration after coastin down boza hill  was ok plugs a light tan atm

just been to fill up and this time wouldn't start had to push it home up f**kin hill again ,
had plug spanner wiv me took plug out n no spark so what gives ?
when I pulled up at station just to be sure I turned bike off then bak on no probs but soon as I filled with petrol it was dead
I mean what gives ?? ready for scrappin the bloody **** heap n im knackered

dodgy igntion switch? i had same problem on mine- ended up replacing ignition switch and engine cut off switch-solved the problem..not sure which one was at fault-prob engine cut off!

damn dread wish I knew am honestly ready 4 torchin the thing , but why ok b4 fillin up both times , cud the weight of fuel in tank be trappin sumat ?

have you tried taking carb off and opening and get airline to clean jets etc? and def check the filter on the inlet- but tall that wont explain the no spark issue- which is what i suggested to check -mine was sparking sometimes and then when after running i would try and start again and no spark??? so they were the only 2 things to try

Water gets into the kill switch and corrodes it which in turn prevents spark, happened to mines/

Take the kill switch apart clean the connections back to shiny metal.

so if kill switch is corroded how come its crankin over ??

also no side stand switch as has been removed , av no testin equiptment except a 12v light 

how to I find out if coils dead then ? as no spark n tried different plug

this is my work transport n im at my wits end avnt  money to throw it at a garage either

engine will crank over with kill switch it just retards the spark... the other way is to bypass the switch and wire them together-just to see if that helps?

how do I test parts ie coil as ive no clue wiv electrics
am honestly thinkin of getting rid , spent money on engine brakes etc n soon as get it on road nowt but trouble

take the spark out, and kick over-with ignition on and kill switch off -should see a spark if not-then you i would start cleaning the connections on both . you can temp bypass the switches to check if they are at fault.

no kick start on dtx mate so will try kill switch clean up
will try that am truly stressed out with it bet ive pushed it 5 miles lately mostly up hill

can still turn it over on the starter mate..just the same as kicking it over..should see strong blue spark if not try flicking on/off the kill switch while turning over the engine to see if you can get spark...had to do this quite rapidly at one point ...you'll get there

yeah as he says take plug out rest or hold side thread of it against something metal or earthed and hit starter you should have a good strong blue spark and maybe hear it cracking sound works better in a dark place.
my dad as when I was a kid used to con me in to holding the the plug if I scream he knew it was ok..only worked on me once or twice well ok 3-4 times I was realy thick .

if no spark try checking and cleaning all wire to and from coil also give ignitin a wiggle and same for kill switch and lomm and wires if you get a spark wilst wiggling and fiddling with things you can maybe lead to problem or brocken lose wires .

I suspect you have a good spark and there is some other problem .

strange that more than once she runs fine you pull up at pet station fill up then it wont run so that sounds related in some way .
still makes me think of the breather small pin prick hole most tanks have to let some gass escape as bike is fill or shaken around .
did you take cap of and strip it down to nothing and clean all parts ?
also empty tank strip and remove tap clean throu and remove and wash filters with fuel .
also if possible check and clean inside of tank some real rust crap builds up in the bottom .. sounds sill I have filled with counted ammount of nuts bolts and given a good 20 mins rattle. after shake all bolts out or remove with magnet taped to stick lol .. even used jet power washer to blast it in side some reet crap came out but you must dry it well after heat gun works or hair dryer then a couple rinse with old fuel .

other things fine when ride up but dont start after asume you put it on stand have you checked the side stand switch or try disable it if they have one .

eliminate the things you know are clean or good as you know you cleaned them or fixed them and that should lead to what is bad .
make a list as you go of things you have done or that you know 100% are fine saves going over things twice .

if like me can be laid in bed at night and things pop in my head and think fck I bet thats it should check that in morning...then you forget the next day what you thought...make a note if possible

with out sounding like a **** we have seen other posts where me and others at the very start say try this check that and the guys say I have done so [ when they realy have not] only to post 3 weeks later that the problem and fix was posted at the start .

well my caps got a key as in to lock it so how do I strip it ?
theres no spark at all I know wot u mean abt doin that chap was doin it at side of road to test 4 spark but bugger all
cud as u sed it be coil ? how do u test it ?
will still look at breather but wont av owt to with spark will it lol
am a passable spanner twirler but am useless wiv electrics

changed plug in case was dodgy
cleaned all coil leads
cleaned up all connector blocks I can find had kill switch off bars but cudnt see owt wrong looks ok no corrosion I cud see but avnt stripped the actual switch
took ignition barrel off and disconnected it from loom n reconnected it !checkin contacts at blocks my self im wonderin abt the coil as it mite av been in its dyin throws these last few times it failed

think you need some one with a bit of electric know how and a tester to see if power is getting to coil nad out the other end great if you know some one with same bike local to swap over coils or parts to test with .

as for the fuel filler cap mine also has a lock key hole take it all off and should be some s crews on the underside to strip it all down just remeber how to you take it apart and wheere springs and bits go .
best way to eliminate this if it is so is when it happens take of fuel pipe see if fuel running or just open and leave open cap ...

but seems if you say there is no spark then thats where the problem lays being sure your trying to start the bike as if your sitting on it with stand up -ignition on kill switch to run and some bikes clutch pulled in or like scooters break pulled in lol .

this is why I hate bikes with lecy starts only with all this trying to start when none running its easy to over work the starter and or burn it out ... also is the starter engageing properly and turning the engine over ?

we could clutch atb straws all day with it could be this it could be that .

maybe from what I understand a duff battery will not spin up the starter fast enuf for it to engage .

what did it sound like when you was hit the starter button that usualy is a give away as it will sound not righ .

maybe some one else can answer better as not a leccy start type of person and have in past removed leccy start in favor of a kicker .

av checked coil wiv multimeter on primary got 0.9 ohms on the 200 ohms scale
the secondary was readin 12.36 on the 20.000 scale
is this good or bad ??

 now ya gettin technical and useing big words with me lol so I have no idea .. but fact is if there is power going throu coil then maybe you should be getting a spark ?

sure one of the bothins can tell you the correct ohms

can one of you tell me what the wires are for comin out of my clutch lever ??
cud it have owt to do with my lack of spark ?as recently changed clutch cable !
A coil n plug cap at my local bike shop CMC is £29 inc vat

Have you checked the mounting point of the coil to see if its got a good earth ?
