Really? Seems kinda obvious. I've never heard of them. Morale of the story. Buy a decent brand. They're decent for a reason

Well, some people buy cheap helmets, just like they buy cheap bikes.

Personally, I've never spent more than £60 on a helmet. Albeit my current helmet was dropped from £120 (probably because they wanted shot of stock as everything was 50% off) some people even buy them from Aldi and Lidl which are actually up to the EU standards.

Just because it's an expensive / branded helmet doesn't mean it'll save your life, you can have a correctly fitting £40 helmet or a £700 helmet that doesn't fit properly. And guess which will save your life? The £40 one.

One guy had a helmet two sizes too big and when he crashed, it split in two.

Never touch a cheap helmet! I've smashed helmets from head butting the earth, yeah it's a bit of a downer when you smash your £300 lid but rather that than smash a priceless head! I got lucky and recently bought a shoei helmet for cheap! Was an ex display helmet in a shop, just been tried on a few times! Made sure I got all pictures of the inside no cracks or anything! Got a basically a brand new helmet for a bargain!

you will get what you pay for unfortunately with helmets...although some of the cheaper ones are getting better. have a look at many of the reviews online and you will see why people pay £300+ for someone that will protect their head!

Speaking from a professional point of view- i have been to many RTC's where the helmets have literally split resulting in severe head injuries for the patient. Some of the worst cases have been cheap helmets. and ill fitting ones too!! Heck can recall one job where he didnt even fasten chin strap - the impact of the head and helmet hitting the van was not too bad- yet the impact of head hitting the ground with no helmet on resulted in major trauma and spinal injuries!!

Forget it. Helmets need to be replaced every three years. Its expensive but at the end of the day when you come off you'll be greatful.

Its not hard to find a decent helmet around £100-150, you get oneil, one industries, thor; just three off the top of my head, all decent brands just dont be silly, one industries even go down to £60 on one of their helmets

Search for the previous year models that shops/websites still have in stock; brand new helmets just out dated abit so go for reasonable prices

I wore the same 'nitro' helmet for 8 years; cost £20 lol had loads of crashes init, even wear it in the buggy! Now im too big and my heads just smack side to side between the roll cage lol, but the same helmet, still use it now occasionally

You're supposed to bin a helmet after crashing the first time, lol.

And you're supposed to bin them after X amount of years. About 3-5 IIRC.
