How To Adjust Clutch Bite?

Hi all.

My clutch seems to constantly be biting as soon as it's pulled all the way in. Obviously dodgy on the clutch and causing extra wear. How can I change where it bites?

There are three places you can go to to adjust the clutch.

1. The clutch lever perch
2. The clutch arm
3. The clutch itself

Firstly the lever side

Go to the lever and follow the cable. There should be a dilver locking nut that goes into the perch itself. Unscrew the locking nut and you will be able to unscrew the lever out towards the bike, pulling the lever back towardd the perch

Secondly at the clutch arm.

From the rear left side of the barrel you should see a metal holding bracket for the cable. Inside this will run the cable and two locking nuts. Slacken off the left nut and screw the right nut towards the clutch arm. Then tighten the left nut up to lock the cable in place.

If you have run out of adjustment at the clutch arm and perch then it will be necessary to adjust the clutch itself. This will require dismantling the clutch cover.

Reveal the clutch basket. You will notice at the front of the clutch basket are 5 or so springs and at the centre is a nut and rod. You will need to adjust the rod to be pushing the clutch plate up and the lock it off with the nut.

Once completed the biting point should be at the end with 1-5mm of free play. Hope this helps

Cheers, Calum.

Will put this new cable in first, then adjust it. Finally came after two weeks. OEM as well, the only one worth buying. :)

This is sorted now. Being cheap, I used the wrong oil. And it stuck all my clutch plates together. After a clean and reassembly it was fine now running it on 5W40 oil. As per mechanic's recommendation. :)
