hi all, just approaching 160 miles on my bike and im still not even half way down on my 2T oil tank, is this normal? Bike is a standard yamaha dt125re 06. Replies with what sort of consumption your gettting would be good. The tuning is bang on get about 85 miles to a tank of fuel! :P

85 miles to a tank is low mate. Even my 4DL 32mm carb tuned to fook is more than that. I get about 100+ to reserve then I fill it up. I run oil rich, rather a little too much than not enough!

Yeah I don't red line it everywhere. I find just potting around it's cracking mpgs haha!

Even my bro's YZ is cracking on fuel.

When I used to run the oil pump, I'd just leave it brimmed all the time. Mine's a R model though, so a lot easier than the RE/X's to fill up.

A long time... thats the short answer. I dunno I have topped up mine with a Lt 2 weeks ago and its probably a good 3/4 full after maybe 4 trips to the petrol station.

I hope you're all keeping an eye on it. And bare in mind if the oil light comes on, switch the engine off immediately. It means the oil pump is empty. Therefore you're running without any oil. If you do that, you'll need to bleed the pump. Most people will just fill it back up with oil and hope for the best.

Not that I'm saying anyone would do that.

What! The oil light tells you the oil bottle is low. Well that is the case on the re I'd be very surprised if that wasn't the case on the r.

Hmm fairly sure mine only worked when it was out, not too sure. It was a while ago lol.

I know that on Moped's it's when it's out the light comes on.

Bit late if it only came on when it's empty lol, like any level sensor there to tell you it's low. Mine never used to last too long from what I can remember though!

Meh. Everyday before riding mine, I do routine maintenance as should everyone else. I check bulbs, tyres have air in, chain and coolant levels. It'd be a bad idea to not I think. If you run the autolube it'd be a good idea to throw in looking at the oil levels. Along with clear pipes on the oil pump to see the oil pumping through.

The oil light comes on when the oil level drops below the level of the sensor in the oil tank which is about 1/4 tank of oil left. You can ride for quite a few miles with the oil light on. I rode from John o groats back down to inverness with the oil light on all the way. That trip was 2052 miles all up. I'm trying to remember how much oil i used. Probably about 3-4 litres i think. Dont remember topping it up more than twice tbh. Using the oil pump you use far less oil than pre mix.

Calum your bike sounds like it might be running a bit lean if you can get 100 to a tank of fuel truth be told! :L be careful man you dont want it seizing!

Lol, upjetting it a few mm does not lose 50mpg's mate. Putting a bigger main jet won't see huge economy loss
