Little teaser video for you guys that wanted to see my brothers road legal YZ.

Unfortunately, as you can probably hear, my end can fell off and well I didn't manage to capture anything decent. But you can still see how much quicker it is than my DT :D

So yeah, I know my bike sounds gash, I am literally working on the new pipe as we speak. Hopefully, should have it on in the next couple of weeks, and then I will sound much nice, hopefully.

That YZ is real nice. Should let your brother have the helmet camera to see from his perspective.

He hasn't got the mount. As said this was just a teaser. We didn't go far. When we go out properly I'll give him
My helmet. It's a real nice bike to ride.

The only thing it wants, in my opinion, is the suspension stiffened. Naturally it's setup for off road so it's really soft. It could do with just being stiffened up and then that would be spot on. He's got the right bike though, since the suspension is adjustable.

Your not riding THAT sensible like everyone makes out cal, you were pacing it in what looked like 30 roads to me

I found your over the shoulder checks a litlle to frequent for my liking lol, but hey better safe than sorry

Even the dt you can adjust to sit like a sumo, just wack the preload round tighten it up, thats all that needs doing to that yz, preload stiffened up and the rebound on the front turned about 4-6 clicks out on the rebound, see how it feels before he ever thought of getting stiffer springs, and the obvious one get the forks up higher so the front sits lower, about 10-15mm showing out the top of the yoke improves cornering so much its unreal if you haven't already done it

Incase anyone doesn't know what the preload is its the rear shock adjuster, have a look on your dt its got two 17 or 19mm nuts; one tightens loosens the spring whdn you turn it and the other one is a locking nut

On the yz you can just get a hammer and flat head screw driver and smack the notches to turn it

Meh. It's save to some of us, some just go with the throttle rolled back everywhere, lol.

Also it's a wide lensed camera, so looks faster than it actually is, granted by about 10mph if that.

Lol, true that. I won't tell you what my bike is maxing out to at the moment, suffice to say you wouldn't be breaking many laws.

Weird though, when I first had it running I was maxing out to 80 mph. But I've since messed with the sprockets, so not anymore lmao!

Luke is right though, it only looks fast, cause the camera and the noise. But I wasn't doing silly speeds on the residential areas, simply because, the bike doesn't go that fast. Fast enough for me to commute everyday 5 miles. But not a lot else to tell you the truth. But this is how I wanted the bike. I NEVER do long journeys on it so the gearing is about right.

I know what the cameras are like i'll give you that, its was just the sound and the shifting; you yourself once said its about 10mph per gear on the dt, so i went by that

Obviously you've got shorter gearing because of the sprockets then? Make you sound quick yeh i know what your trying to do there cal ;)

Well I shift every ten mph. But that's easy shifting. It'll scream up to 15K but there is no power past 12 so there is no point. I've forged the bottom end should it should be able to take high rpm, not sure on the box though.

I don't like to say that my bike is capable of more. I try to understate what it does rather than exaggerate. But yeah I say 10 mph but I noticed the other day it'll do 30 in 2nd. But 5th and 6th are completely different to the DTR gearbox. They're really short and they're there to push that little bit more out of the engine. I don't know whether TZR gearbox is the way forward on the DTR. It's nice to ride. I like it. But 5th and 6th just push extra power when the engine is struggling. Since I've got a small ratio of sprockets, the engine does not struggle. And on the DTR you want that nippyness on the bottom end. Something I don't really want to compromise. But I reckon it could do with 14 on the front. That would probably get the ratio about right.

But as said, I ride in heavy traffic, day in, day out. Country lanes on the week end. Never long distances. So with that in mind the gearing is spot on. But runs out of puff way to early. ALSO I'll note, it's a lot harder to get that front wheel up in 1st and 2nd now I find. With the DTR gearing she loved the back wheel in 1st and 2nd. Especially with that Zeel. The Zeel gives it so much more mid range. But the TZR, it's still possible, but you have to want to get it up, where as before the dt would do it if you were throttle happy.

Hmm, I'm curious now, do you filter in traffic? I find the DTR a doddle to throw around in tight gaps in traffic. Can do some RoyalJordanian stuff on it. I think I'm going to miss that aspect when I upgrade. I won't be missing the problem after problem though, the latest is a oil leak.

Also are you riding on a CBT still, Cal? Or you done the test?

Oh right. You done the test before the new laws come in? If so you can ride a litre bike tomorrow if funds permitted, although I wouldn't recommend it.

Is the Lanza much BHP more than the DT?

Someone had a 200 Lanza engine in their DT, didn't they?

The Lanza is 230 jap import.

You're thinking of the dt 200.

Ugh more torques, bit of tuning and a zeal should be nice. Scrim says not as fast as a yz125.

You need a yz 125 cal, that'll be the end of you power issues, put a yz engine in the dt!! Can it be done?

Got the starlet :D The DT is faster than any DT round my ways so I've achieved what I set out to achieve. You have to remember I don't stand a chance in that video against a YZ.

Can be done, but involves modifying the DT frame to hold the engine, then making brackets to hold the exhaust on. And the DT frame is heavier than the YZ's frame. It'd be a lot easier to just buy a YZ and register it on the road. smile

Personally, I'll keep the DT, as it's a lot more reliable compared to the YZ if you're doing high mileage.

Be cheaper to do the test and get a bigger bike though and the bigger bike will be more reliable to a 2 stroke. smile

Toy had a Lanza, he sold it to "SeanyFTW" or something like that, coming to think of it I haven't seem him on the forums for a while now. Wonder what's happened to him?

It was up for sale for like £500 if memory serves me correctly. It ran as well, if only I had the money to splash on it. :(

Also can't wait to see the Starlet finished. Will have to get some videos of driving around in it. :)

Yeah. I don't intend on keeping it uploaded Victor. Ain't big or clever.

Yeah, was suppose to go next week but the guy called and said if we don't get ut this weekend then it'll sell to someone else. So I'm sat at the airport now waiting for the flights. This one is suppose to be 200+ bhp in a 860Kg car. Needless to say I'm excited. But it's not for me. I let my brother drive mine ans he's like yeah I want one. Selling his 54 plate EP3 for one lmao

Why are you going via airport?

Wouldn't it be quicker to drive there? Two trips over the ferry and job's a good'un.
