Power maybe similar but thats peak power, and the 250 will have more grunt through most of the rev range as apposed to the 125 which will only really have a chance right in the middle of its powerband.
As the saying goes there is no substitute to raw engine displacement. now a 250 2T vs a 250 4T that would be a different story ;)
Ultimately the 2 stroke has more power, but only in a small section of the Rev range. The 4 stroke has a better spread of power and really makes the job easier. If you want to learn motocross, get a two stroke. When you've mastered that you'll be in better stead to ride any bike.
The old debate..... That video is more about the lines the riders are taking than the bikes. Ive had loads of 2t MX bikes converted for enduro use 125 and 250 and 4t enduro bikes etc etc bla bla. The last 125 mx bike I had was the last RM125 built the K7 and it was easily a match for the 250 4bangers of the time. The newer 250,s are probably better these days as they improve every year. Ive had big KTM 4bangers 525 530 exc etc but I keep going back to the 2t its what I like but everyone to there own.
I have a 2011 KTM XC250 2t now that I bought new " I aint used it since 2012 hopefully that will change soon " and I loved it, its light direct planted and fast and easily a match for a 450 4banger. I had a 2010 Husky WR300 2t before that but to be honest the KTM is a FAR BETTER bike than the Husky was, now the Husky,s are now Husaberg,s that where Blue KTM,s that's lightly to change lol...........
These guys are both pinned, and on one bit 2stroke guy blocked the 4; the the 4 had to let off and maybe brake abit, the 2 had the smooth full power line because of this but the 4 still beat him to the inside down the straight
Yes he does seems like the 2fift has a bit more grunt but the 125 rider is braking earlier to cut the corners to get the inside line coming out of the corners especially on the first straight , im still all for the 2t power delivery though but that cause im old.................

Me too! But in practicality terms, the 4 Stroke wins.
A 2 stroke separates the men from the boys! I can outdo people on a 125 but put me on a 250f and I can come close with the bigger boys because I've learned on the 2 stroke so am in a better place on the 4 banger! Best thing to do is train on the 125 race the 250f but make sure you can comfortably switch between the 2 you stay on a 4 banger to long and you'll lose your touch on w 2t
