Spraying engine?

This is probably in the wrong section but wasn't too sure.

Soon I'll be at the stage to spray paint bits of my TDR engine but have never sprayed an engine before!

I always thought spraying parts of an engine would have an adverse effect on the cooling. I know the radiator takes away most of the heat but is it safe to add a few layers to the engine?

Also, at this point I will need to spray the cases and side covers,  which I know people have done in the past. But what about the cylinder and head? Are they okay to paint or will the heat destroy the paint in a matter of minutes?

I may end up getting the spray today from Halfords if they have a nice greyish one, as they do specific engine paint and I'm not too sure moving away from the stock engine colour is a good idea.

Any help appreciated! :D

Use VHT paint. I've sprayed both the engine cases and cylinder using VHT paint and it's still looks very good. Can easily be done.
