YEAH RIGHT! I'd go for the more expensive one. It looks a million times better, the cost of the graphics alone probably brings them in the same price range. Then there is the fact if it looks as good as he says it is then it's mint.

Then there is the history. Lots of story. Receipts. Then V Force reed cage which are mega bucks. Then the porting work, Carb settings. And the rest. Nah by the sounds of things the one that chavey is selling is much better value for money.

Even if most of that is rubbish, it looks a lot better. A Top end rebuild, £60. Full engine rebuild £200. So I wouldn't worry about engine failures. If you catch it before it happens then it's proper cheap! Don't let it break is my advice. And yeah looks much nicer and is much higher spec.

Cool, i just wanted to see if any of you guys would say the chavey's bull****ing, but it seems genuine to me aswell :)

He offered me £2450, i'll knock it down abit but my most important question is this:

Will everything still be straight forward in terms of rebuilding the engine etc with what he's done (mod wise)? Can any of the mods he's got done cause any complications? Or are they legit parts that work well with the engine

And why's he on about tbe barrel got done in holland? That wont f*** things up will it, im guessing its for more power?

And did you say 'YEAH RIGHT' because you think i couldn't ride a bike set-up for only 14 stone? I find that very offensive

Considering the next sentence contradicts OSmightyman then no. I'm not one to judge peoples weight, I ain't no spring chicken myself.

No porting in Holland...doubt it. I sent my barrel to Mick Abbey to be ported. It's just another word for tuned. It will make maintenance more important. You would have to disregard manufactures recomendations and do it a little sooner. But another barrel can be had cheaply. Nah I mean yeah if it's genuine then that's a sweet buy OF THE TWO. Personally a little expensive but I don't have that sort of cash for an off road bike. I'd go for around £1500 but be prepared to spend the next 12 months spending £££ on it. Would cost more in the long run but it's kinda like finance lol. But yeah sweet motors either one. Just prefer the other one.

Ha im joking bro, you to serious i did this to you on another thread aswell lol

Ok so tuned barrel just means more frequent rebuilds and oil changes? I've narrowed it down to these two and mighty man you got the more sensible/realistic approach but for a coupla £££ mote i think its worth it considering i knocked him down to £2400 so far, plus them v-force reeds are pretty expensive to buy!!

So does the barrel add/aid bottom mid or top end? I dont understand it and can't decide whether its a good thing or not

Ive never had an RM250 but if they are as bullet proof as the 125 and they probably are then regular oil changes with decent oil regular airfilter cleans and a decent 2t oil you should have no problems at all. I used 40/1 premix with no probs on the RM125 and topend rebuild every 100ish hours and the bottom end was never touched in 4 years save for 1 new clutch.

Hhmm I thought you might know a little more than you do mate. Definitely don't rush into it. Oil changes? Transmission fluid will be the only oil you will replace and not too frequently does it need changing. The engine oil well need I say it's a two stroke so it'll burn it with the fuel. So fully synthetic oils do fine.

V force reeds in my opinion are a gimmick. Yeah it's cool that they're there and what not but I don't believe they actually do anything more special than carbon reeds on a normal inlet manifold.

Yeah read up about how a two stroke actually works and then you'll understand what it porting actually does. It can vary depending on how it has been ported. However motocross bikes are extremely well ported for mid range punch and over rev. So any more porting work will only adhere mid range in order to gain peak power. Effectively what this means is that yes you get more horsepower, but the useable range becomes narrower. This in turn makes the bike snappier in the high rpm's and harder to keep on the powerband.

As said you need to do your research and decide that this is what you want. I had my barrel ported on the dt. Whilst this is a COMPLETELY different realm, the principles apply. I've lost bottom end, but in tern I've gained more usable power in the higher revs. But I've also accommodated for this loss of power in the lower revs. Either way you'll want to understand the basics. Any tuning work will reduce reliability. It's now been altered against the manufacturers specification. So you just want to bare that in mind.

I never raced motox on it but used it for enduros that may be tougher on the engine in someways as its running for a lot longer and I used it for a lot of hard push and pull trail riding out with big 450,s etc so it was kaned all day long just to keep up.

Ok cheers guys, well out of these two i still think its gotta be the one with the graphics, i can always change the barrel back to stock i spose

Also some people add a 10lb weight to the fly wheel, apparently smooths out the power but i dont know what the hell they are going on about

Nah don't do that for mx, its just so it will lug it at low rpm for enduro and trail riding 10oz not lb mind you. I did it on my YZ250 that was enduro specd from new I hated it and took it off cause I like the mx 250 hit, my KTM is running the soft powervale spring and the mad mx ignition map cause I love the mx set up even for enduro " well I did when I could ride it without my f*****g rib cage rattling about lol "...........

I cant believe how many bikes you've had

Well, if your ribs or whatever aren't getting better its up to you whether you want to ride and have the risk of coming off

Both look good. I'd go for the cheaper one purely because it's a dealer. Although that doesn't mean Jack.

Which ever one you do go for, ring Suzuki with the serials in front of them and check it over in the daylight. The night can hide a lot of nasties. If the number doesn't exist with Suzuki walk away, it's a ringer with tampered serial numbers. Also, check it with the police if it's stolen before even buying it. Ask them for the serials, then check they match up when you buy it.

This is what the fella said in responsive to some of my questions

As for the tuning, the barrel has been ported and polished, the rest of the parts you can use any piston kit crank kit etc in them, however ive always run wiseco pistons in my bikes ive had, and hot rod cranks, as recommended by alot of people.

Anyone got any opinions on this?

Best ones always are mate. I had to travel to Northern Ireland to pick up my brothers Starlet mate. Plane from Bristol, Ferry back to Scotland and a 300 mile Drive back at 5 in the morning and then work at 9. So London to Cornwall , piece of cake.

Sounds like a good buy to me. Remember that a dealer has to sell it at a profit so they would have picked that bike up for a lot less than what a private seller could sell it for. I'd say you're getting more bang for your buck if you ask me,
