have just been on gum tree looking at dts and some of the adds are a little hard to believe .dtr 31bhp new racing pistons ( I'm no mechanic but I thought there was only one ..) he has three adds for this bike. Or swap £500 plus ps4 for 125 no Chinese unless 140 or 160 init ????? there's a couple of good ones though dt 125 lc barn find looks standard apart from an old type dep tail pip unused 15 years new pads cables plug ect new mot no advisory's £ 1200 in Devon though.... But its the spelling on some of the adds as well that puts you strait off .mine is terrible which is why I use a spellcheck.

If they can't type properly give them a chance, ring them if they can't speak properly jog them on

Gumtree is very dodgy, only go there if im desperate...

Ha 31 bhp yeh calum why's yours not kicking out that much? Thought you did every mod in the book...maybe you can learn something off of this guy :P

Basic spelling and grammar is crucial for a sale. If they can't be bothered to spell they I can't be bothered to buy.

Yeah ennit 2stroke. Well if I'm running 15 bhp on one race piston then technically on 2 I should be about 30 ☺

It's like, 'first to see will buy' surely that will be implicit, hence doesn't need mentioning. I don't like selling bikes, cars lmao.

Don't write Gumtree off, lot's of bargains to be had. Some people don't value grammar, don't let it put you off a good bike. Go have a nosey and let the bike do the talking.

I agree with Victor, as long as you are careful it can be a great place for bargains. Always give the bike and paperwork a thorough inspection before departing with your cash, and you should be fine.

I go in to buy any bike with the mindset I'm about to be ripped off. I don't get excited then, and will pay attention to detail.

I ain't too bothered about the ad, unless it looks like a chav has written it with all the rubbish like "rapid" and what not.

First thing I look at on a bike is the chain and sprockets. Are they well lubricated and still got life in them? If they haven't, it already tells me the owners maintenance is either lacking or non-existent. Then I turn my attention to the frame and engine numbers, if it's a road bike I'll check them against the logbook. If they don't match I just walk away, you'll lose your bike if they don't match and a copper notices or the MOT station (most won't even MOT your bike without seeing visible frame numbers.)

Also, if the chain was dry and it was a 2-stroke, I'd be gone already.
