Yeah but I don't see that being much more derestricted. Not more than 15 at the wheel anyway. As said I will get my bike dyno'd. And I'll be very surprised if it's much more than 17-20.

You have obviously never ridden a one that's older than you, 21.4 according to the Yamaha technical data manual from the time.

I'm running an engine as old as me and I can tell the casting is no where near as good as a newer engine. And aftermarket ignition. So no restrictions and a 93 4dl. Nothing special at all.

There is nothing left on that bike that isn't tuned. It doesn't hold a candle to the Aprilia mx125. Have had both my bike and a rotax 122 side by side. I'm not disputing that Yamaha know what they're doing. I just wonder where they're measuring that power from. The fly wheel? Definitely not the rear wheel.

A standard good derestricted 89 DTR no pipe no servo no nothing will leave your bike standing Cal, there are no restrictions in an 89 ignition system CDI.  A derestricted DTR from the 00,s is like a DT50 compared to a derestricted one from 89 to 91.
