CBT Done - First Time on a geared bike!!

So i finally got around to doing my CBT this morning.

I had a few sketchy moments to begin with initially when i was getting to grips with the gears, and clutch control. But by the end of the day i was all good and officially hooked.  Some crazy ass driver nearly took me out when he was turning right out of a junction into my path as i was cruising along. But apart from from that it was cool.I seriously cant wait to get out on my own bike....well that was until one of the instructors - who claimed he knows 2 strokes - said that my bike would need a rebuild for peice of mind withe current milege 5400k.

What do you guys think...would it be best for me to rebuild my top end before i get it on the road or just ride the thing and see how it is first? Bike is a 2004 aprilia mx 125.

LOL.

Ironically enough he said that he could do the rebuild for me and would only charge £35 per hour if I supplied the parts.

Funny that.

But on a serious note.

No mate. It'll be good. Take the exhaust off. Have a look up the port. Make sure there is no scoring. Be sure to do the piston and rings at 10k and it'll be good to go until the bottom end goes. Probably around 30k maybe less depending on how much power that mx is putting out. I know the rs wouldn't do 30K miles.

But as said time and time again.

Diy. Easy enough and once you've done one two stroke engine, you've done them all.

Thanks Cal...Funilly enough I've been in your neck of the woods for the past couple of days....getting my ink done...so not going to be able to ride it until my arm heals.

I'll be on the case asking for info and advice as soon as it does goes bang....I've got the haynes manual and tools etc ready to roll.

Sebamax2 - That is one meeean looking mx.I can see exactly why you miss it. What exhaust is that?

It was pretty cool man...seemed like a chilled out place. Its funny because some of the roads looked familiar from the video you posted of you and your bro riding. i stayed in central hotel in the end.

Yeah they did a really good job thanks...was well worth travelling all that way.
