If you find out something that i haven't got written in derestricting section then let me know and i'll add it to the site.

By the way, did you get a wiring diagram with the bike? (should be in the back of the owners manual if you've got it). It might be useful to help figure out what those 3 wires do.

I personally haven't looked round a "new type" (DT125RE, DT125X) as i don't know anyone who's got one. Therefore i can only base my knowledge of the electrics on what i've read about them.

hi there,

do you know if the dt125x has the same wiring as the dtr?

did your yam dealer give u any other advise? how risky is it to remove the rev limiter?

does yamaha produce this engine on another bike de restricted? or is it possible de restriction could half the life of our engines?

i hav`nt got a clue about the wiring,as for my yamaha dealer they are as much use as a chocolate fire guard, the only reason i use them is that ive got 2yrs warranty left on the bike. ive disconnected the rev limiter (i think )and it does`nt make much difference, must be coz im over weight, sorry im not much help,im gonna see if i can get a work shop manuel next week if i get one i`ll let you no,and email you what you need to no.     thanks Andy

the guy i got the bike from, rang the local yam dealer it came from, all he says you can do is the wire for earthing the powervalve, and cut open the front pipe to remove the collar/washer,or obviousely replace with a dep system!thats it

something not right there mate, wee bike should pull 60-65 when fully restricted, when youve earthed the wire should pull 70-75,but will hold top end a wee bit better

i bort sum information off ebay and it said to earth the green and black wire, after several hours i found that wire,at long last,so i earthed it to the frame, its seems to have nocked the rev limiter off but does`nt go any faster, thats why i was wondering if it was the power valve setting

nah mate it wont go much faster, mine did about 60-65 70 at a push, now with just the wire earthed it does 65-70 75 at a push so its not much different really, but it does get there quicker and has more pull in top gear.

i doubt its possible to do over 80mph on them without a gearbox/sprocket change for top speed

how can you tell the powervalve is deristicted,do you still get the powervalve making that sound when you turn the key in the ignition, dont no much about the DTX,taking the air snorkle from under seat does give a little bit of a power increase, quite suprised, thanks
