The reed switch is fitted to the clocks so that when the bike reaches 60mph the CDI knows about it and retards the ignition. This makes the bike have less power over 60mph. It's just another restriction added to the DTR to make it comply with Learner laws.
The reed switch needs to be pulled out of the clocks ,but still connected to its wires (just tie/tape it at least a few inches away from the hole it came out of).
Have you still got a standard exhaust fitted? If so, then get a DEP or "Big One" front pipe and preferably silencer too.
Also check that your powervalve is fitted the correct way round (take off front pipe, turn the ignition ON and check that the powervalve is lined up with the top of the exhaust port). Check the De-restricting page on my website.
hi guys i had this prob with my tdr its worth a try anyway take of the rear pipe and take the tdr for a spin and see if theres any improvements.also i have earthed a wire coming out of the cdi i must have a look at it as i cant remember which one it was.also set up your powervalve correctly.how to is on the site.TUNING.if your bike goes quick after you take of rear pipe its probably blocked as mine was so i cut the end of and welded all the baffles out and now its like a rocket dont bother with tuned pipes.if you get the baffles out of your standard rear pipe its much the same as a tuned pipe good luck
ps if you want to know the color of the wire just leev a post and i will tell you
Hello mate had a look at the wire's far to many, got a 07 TDR had a look at the blocks got 3 going in and 3 coming out what colour do i go for?. If you can help i would be most happy.
i can tell you from my experience,a standard de-restricted exhaust is not as fast as a full dep system.mines got more power at low and high revs.not a huge difference but you defo feel it.
and my original zorst had been cut in half and gutted properly.
but i dont like the tinny sound of the dep system, and for £220 quid its not a great fit either. if i knew then what i know now i would have stuck with the standard zorst. well thats my opinion on it.
looks sweet though.

That is why i highly recommended BigOne front pipes ^ they are great imo Yeh deps do like nice, but looks aint everything ;)
There is a guy on eBay who is selling aftermarket pipes for dtr's which are also much like a dep cross bigone, i was tempated to purchase one and see what it was like. Anyone else came across these?
i have just fitted a big one spany the fit is perfect but to make fitting easier insert the manifold stub into the spany , fit spany to bike the fit manifold nuts
